That seems to be a common reaction from those with no experience with hill-hold assist systems. There's no need to imply I can't drive, or take a blind luddite viewpoint. Keep in mind the TDI and the BRZ are likely comparably priced, yet the current TDI is 3 model years older. Using the sports car excuse to exclude zero-weight features doesn't cut the mustard in this highly competitive automotive marketplace. Ditto not having key-fob operated window up & down, and OBC-operated vehicle operational configuration options.

Let's see some hands. Those of you bashing Hill Hold assist; have actually owned a car with it? This isn't about me being lazy [which is a LOL if I've ever had one], it's about not rear-ending yourself on some asshat that's tailgating you in rush-hour traffic in a hilly commute. Yes, a right hand on the e-brake works perfectly, but the HHA is simply a helping hand and doesn't impact the e-brakes functionality in any fun maneuvers.

If we really wanted to whine about useless weight-adding technology, we'd throw fits about the advanced keyless entry and start, with all the sensors, wiring, and overly complicated operational parameters it induces.

I'm especially fond of how the keyless access fob can make us terrorists.

Quote:
When bringing a key with remote keyless entry system onto an aircraft, make sure you do not press any buttons on the key while inside the aircraft cabin. If you are carrying the key in your bag etc., ensure that the buttons are not likely to be pressed accidentally. Pressing a button may cause the key to emit radio waves that could interfere with the operation of the aircraft.

Interesting to see that the car does not support biofuel greater than E10.
After reading the manual, most part is about safety, i think over half the book is about that.

Yeah everything is a legal battle. I wonder how long it take before prescription drug companies will have to have so many disclaimers that it defeats the purpose of the advertisement completely.

It's not even necessary. I can almost guarantee they engine dyno them at the factory, thus break-in as per manual is not necessary. Use lots of engine braking and vary rpms within the first ~100 miles. The rings seat before you've even driven off the lot anyway...

Ugh, I really wish I had as much faith in this as you do. I hear so many people saying this. If the motor doesn't need a break-in period then why did they put it in the owners manual? I'm just trying to understand.

Hi, my name is Chris. *Hiiii Chris* I have been a victim of stalling from hill assist in a wrx. The less nannies the better (Cheaper, lighter, less complex).

Im moving on to worrying about the ABS and TCS now.

Yeah, always makes me wonder if there is any correlation between not bothering with break-in and frequency of subsequent ringland failures in 2.5L turbo engine...
And where did the "20 miles" break-in oil change came from in the specs thread?

agreed.. I disabled the hill assist in our 2011 STi.. Unless you train yourself to not try to go anywhere for the 5 seconds its enabled. You will stall.

I could list a couple reasons, but I'd be called a "conspiracy theorist".

Betcha those people followed proper break in AND/OR beat on their car before oil got to temp.

Lol I'm open minded. I'm sure Subaru service reps enjoy pointing at the break-in period and accusing people of not breaking in cars correctly in order to get out of expensive motor repairs. Any other good reasons?
