Got the car back today. Running all around more smoothly. Crickets are still happy and loud but not as bad as when I was having idling issues. No more CEL or rough idle though. Also got an extended warranty and some compensation for the month of trouble.

Just as a side note, passenger window auto-up/down also works now. Drove on the freeway for about 25 minutes. I'd say status is repaired.

You shouldn't have to wait weeks.

Toyota started pulling parts off the assembly line to be shipped to those awaiting repairs asap. At least that's what my dealership told me.

But are the replacement parts upgraded or just the same as before? What makes them not fail again?

I'm at about 6000km's trouble free with mine, Canadian FR-S manual, last 6 of VIN: 703344.

I took delivery mid July, not sure of the actual build date of the car though.

Update

I spoke to Clayton at Scion Customer Center today as well as my dealer.

My dealer said the car was fine to drive even though the Check Engine light is likely to come back on. I disagreed and told them to fix the car and i was keeping my Rav4 Sport (nice since most toyota's rentals suck). Why should I drive a car that can't hold an idle speed? They are still paying for the rental.

Scion Customer center has no update. No fix. No news. told them there are a lot of customers having the issue. He mentioned that they are considering (no promises of course) compensation/extended warranty. I will post what the offer is.

I mainly decided to have them keep the car because the longer it is in the shop unrepaired then the better it is to give back (and get my money back).

I must have mis typed. The payment they sent was my first months payment coupon. So I received no compensation yet!. However I talked again to my sales rep about the situation and we are in discussion about either taking a new vehicle black fr-s 6-spd manual or purchasing another vette from their sister dealership, because I highly doubt my z06 is still hanging around. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but that's what I get for typing quickly when at work not paying much attention.

Does anyone have evidence of them pulling the TSB?
How do you know this?

My dealer tried to put me back into my car but when I called my rep he called the dealership and told them to keep me in the rental. Personally I would push for the extended warranty since it is pretty much free for Toyota/Scion unless you need to use it.

I also pushed the fact that if I am without my car for close to a month or over a month I expected them to credit me payments which the rep told me could be done if needed.

You may just need to push a little not saying be mean or an ass but talk to the rep and let them know what you expect to be done to make the situation right.

Clayton is my rep as well. I feel that I am getting the runaround now. Clayton says he can't talk about compensation until after the car is fixed. I said, I would feel a lot better about having my car for 3 days and them repairing it for more than 3 weeks (If that even fixes it) if I knew I would be taken care of (in writing).
Dealer told me that would swap out the car but needed Scion's approval. Scion says that is strictly a dealer thing. So now my car has been titled through the bank and can't easily be undone. I am getting more frustrated by the minute. This is my first Scion/Toyota/Subby and I haven't liked my experience so far.

I can't imagine I'll be writing a good review about my purchase experience.

After a call back from my sales person and the gm of the dealership. They offered me a brand new fr-s plus they are now paying my first months payment. Only problem is they won't do a dealer trade and I had a black 6-spd man, which they do not have in stock, therefor, I would have to take one they have on the lot which would be the whiteout version same price no fees nothing. Unfortunately I hate white color cars.

Took delivery earlier in the week. I was 3 miles down the road and the rough idle began. Turned around and went to service. They pulled it in the shop and confirmed the known idle issue.
9 miles on the car.

Requesting another FRS.

You shouldnt have an issue getting a new one from the selection on the lot. Like me I can pick anyone I want and they will keep my payments the same plus they are paying my firstly the payment now. However I'm going to push them to just refund my down payment. I think I would rather that than tw another fr-s in a color I don't want and most likely have it happen again. Either way good luck to you.
