As has been pointed out MBT is going to be a major concern as an example before I started tuning my Vette a tuner just put it to 32 degrees and left it. Thankfully one of the better tuners took the time to pass on some information about MBT and share some common facts on that platform. Going to 26 and working my way up I found 28 to be the best. I did my testing at the track using trap speeds but the process proved what I had been told.

E85 NA is really hard to mess up, FI not so much.

However now with years of testing I found that 12.2 - 12.6 to be the best range. 12.3 - 12.4 have always felt the best and now that you can log AFR via wideband you can really dial it in. However with my testing on the FRS being cut short in favor of a turbo setup I didn't get to test my tune at the track or on the dyno with the AFR changes to prove the same being true of this car.

E% variability doesn't really have much to do with my last post. You can tune well beyond MBT (in NA application) with far less than e85. I suspect e40 would give enough octane to allow you to run a too aggressive (power robbing) tune without even knowing it from logged knock retard. This is why dyno tuning is key for custom e85 tuning for more power.

does this mean we could run your e85 tune down to e40? I know you've said its safe down to e60.

would mixing 91 into the e85 tank bring my fuel trims into negative and help my mpg without affecting power?

XDF File for TunerPro

When/why did this stop being included with the OTS maps? I had to go back to the download of the 1.42 maps to find it. Good thing I'm smarter than I look.

General consensus is that if you start advancing timing and the power gain is minimal without knock, you're around MBT and it's best to back off the timing to the last known with the biggest gain. This is done for reliability rather than searching for that last few bhp. As Shiv has done his testing, I wouldn't go too mental.

It's also going to be difficult to do any form of MAF scaling/calibration if the E% content is varying.
Can you post your sources? Everything I've read suggests that ideal AFR for E85 to be around 12.5:1 if not leaner for maximum power (also same goes for na gasoline tunes). Under low load cruising conditions anything from 15:1 to 16:1 can be run safely on E85, I've also read. This is also ideal for the pocketbook, since leaner usually means less fuel consumption. And it's good for the environment and stuff.

Exactly what I am finding, their is so much information out there , often contradictory that its hard to work out whats right and wrong. I try to dig up info from persons who actually have tuning experience on the fa20 but they are few and far between and even fewer will actually release anything useful as its their income stream and that's fair enough.

Yeah. To be fair, every engine is different, there is a chance that this FA20 likes to be run richer than the typical engine. Only one way to find out for sure, right?

yep your right, I suppose I am the cautios type, who looks to the pioneering type to head off into the unknowthey do seem to like running rich though i leaned off my gass tune a few % and it knocked like crazy was 11.8 did not like 12.5 not on our fuel anyway

I advanced the timing about a degree at the higher load and RPM areas to the OTS E85 rom and went and took some logs again. Also fueled up right before like the other times. This is what I got compared to the best pull I did on the OTS map and a bit more learning.

As you can see, there appears to be a bit of increase in power at the 5800-7100rpm range. Pretty cool stuff. I will need to dial in the maf scale more at the low voltage range, it looks like. I will try to log some more pulls tomorrow to confirm results.

If used correctly, as above, then you can get good comparisons. As for actual figures etc, no.
