I'm VERY excited to hear your review on these things. From the initial impressions I've heard they should be the hot ticket for your use.
I'm not sure about the Maxxis but I've read special care instructions on a set of Nitto NT01s a friend of mine got and they basically said it was preferred to keep them stored at indoor temperatures but if they need to be stored in below freezing temperatures, it's important to let them come back up to temperature slowly/naturally. Basically, if they are stored in freezing, don't bring them inside to warm them up quickly because that will damage the rubber. I'm guessing it's probably similar for these Maxxis tires.

This seems like a pretty reasonably priced set of tires. interested in your impressions of them on the street/track.

I'm curious house those will look on 9" wheels. I'm wondering if they'd be better on 10" wide wheels.

The below picture (courtesty of @CSG Mike ) shows a 255 VR1 on a 17x9 TWS T66-F CSG spec, vs a 255 RE71R on a 17x9.5 TE37SL.

They will look pretty good. Meaty but not too meaty.

I think they'll look perfectly fine on a 10" wheel.

Can't wait for your review as the Mach Awesome 17x9's with these VR 1's are the exact set i'll be ordering come soon. The VR 1's appear to have already sold out in this size too temporarily.

Post weight per corner when you get the chance please?

Prepped for a little emergency surgery tomorrow. My Mishittymoto low-temp "racing" thermostat decided to fail and stay closed, severely overheating the car within a couple minutes while cruising home. This happened when I was 1 mile from the house and I was able to limp the car home before anything catastrophic happened. Making lemonade with these lemons and swapping back to the stock thermostat. Lesson learned.

Oh dear oh dear, glad to see you managed to stop anything catastrophic happening. How old is the Mishimoto thermostat?

I installed it early January 2015 along with the radiator and hoses. I put it through four track weekends early last year and this entire past summer and winter without any major issues other than it running a little too cold on the highway when it was cold outside. I could remedy that by leaving the car in 5th gear and not taking 6th.

Not going to mess with thermostats anymore after re-installing the OEM. Nobody has issues with the OEM and aftermarket seem to have a 50% failure rate among long-time Subaru installers.
