I like those performance pack wheels. Interested to see pricing on all the trim levels, but this seems to be a really nice refresh. Waiting for the Toyota press release now.

Looks like they tried to refine the car in the areas most needed. Really hoping that the revised tune, lower final drive, intake and exhaust manifolds kill the torque dip, while the new brakes are more than just eye candy. If the new car gains little weight it could regularly see sub 6 second 0-60 runs, but more importantly, added tractability from the revised torque curve. Also the engine should rev even smoother with the new valves, cams, and heads. Good news so far.

I would really like to see the torque curve plots with the engine revisions. Seems like everyday drivability should be much more fun with the changes they have made.

Anyone care to chime in on the use of aluminum over the composite (plastic) intake that we currently have? Is this for thermal purposes? Something else?

If you can't daily drive it with the almost nonexistent (other than on paper) torque dip then driving without it isn't going to be that much more fun.
Probably won't be even noticeable to the majority of drivers.

Not saying you couldn't have, but if there are revisions to increase power in the midrange along with the new final drive should make it have some more pep in the rev range most are driving around at.

I must disagree with you. Maybe each car is different(some worse than others) but mine bogged down really bad between 4-5k rpm. Could be felt very easily and accelerating out of that range took forever. If you could get past it, and stay there, it wasn't a problem. But I'm not that good of a driver yet to manage to stay in a 2000rpm band 100% of the time I'm racing

Don't confuse this with the no power/slow argument. FRS has plenty of power, just not between 4-5k rpm

Is the Nov 2017 for sport package a typo? That would be a 2018 model car. Why even announce it now?

My statement was made directly in reference to daily driving and I tried to make that clear.
Racing is a different matter completely and I can see how it could impact that.
The "forever" in that range for me is somewhere around one second, maybe two if I wasn't trying very hard. This has never once impacted my ability to do anything I wanted while daily driving on the streets. I personally can not imagine any street driving scenarios where people are driving around between 5 and 7K ALL the time. If I had not seen the dynos I would doubt I would ever have even known it was there.

Many of the special edition cars do not get released until well into the model year. Yes the 18s and the special edition 17s will overlap but that is not unusual (especially with Subaru).

On the street no, the torque dip doesn't limit you in any way. The power you have under it is still enough for DD. My 93hp del sol did just fine. But if you are hammering on it, it(torque dip) is pretty annoying
