etc etc etc But most of us don't have super fancy (and expensive) set ups at home so we don't feel any of that.

The only thing that I've found better with a direct drive wheel is that is easier to correct for mistakes. I would have to give props to Logitech and the G29 because for the money, the feel of the road is basically the same as I am now getting with the Fanatec wheel. Then again, FFB on GT7 is pretty mid.
I do miss the pedals on the Logitech controller, the brake pedal had a lot less travel.

This is my main complaint with console racers and wheels. As far as I could tell, there was 0 FFB and road feel on consoles. So for example, in Assetto and iRacing, you can feel every crack in the road itself (not just rumble strips) through the steering wheel, every bump unsettling the steering wheel. When I had a wheel with the previous playstation and whatever the previous GT game was (GT6? Prologue? GT Sport?), the steering wheel was completely flat and lifeless on the road and subtly weighed up in the corners and vibrated over rumble strips, with none of the granular detail of the pavement itself. Is this still the case with GT7?

It has gotten better, I can't speak for belt driven wheels with TFF because the G29 didn't have it and I made the jump to Fanatec straight from that. There are certain sections of the road where I really have to hold a firm grip on the D.D wheel, whereas with the G29 it was pretty flat. Bumps and rumble strips are more or less the same on either. I haven't found a night and day difference. Where the D.D wheel shines is simulating the feel of oversteering and understeering, which is why so much easier to correct the car. I believe is what it has helped me of not losing so much time as I was when using the G29. NoHaveMSG can probably offer a way better insight since he has been using Direct Drive the longest, I think. Edit; whereas enthusiasts tend to lean towards a DD system, I have read great reviews on the G923 when it comes to TFF.

It's miles better. The biggest issue I had with belted wheels is they start to develop this dead zone over time. The FFB in DD is far more nuanced, I can actually feel front brake lockup, but I still mostly use audio que for that as it is more noticeable. The FFB is GT7 is mild though, ACC is worlds better even on console.

Yeah that is a major gripe for me. I use the G29 and if the car starts to get away from me via oversteer, it's often impossible for me to "catch up" and correct it. I literally cannot turn the wheel fast enough to save the car.

I've been playing again a bit this week and I forgot how bad some of the braking zone gear recommendations are. There are some braking zones where you can pretty easily power through a gear or two higher than it says to use. I'm not sure if they chose a low gear expecting beginners, or it's based on a single car or single tune setup or what. It's confusing. I remember this being an issue around launch too, surprised it hasn't been fixed.

So I get hit 3 times, with one knocking me into the wall, yet it's my SE rating that goes down? WTF!?

I stopped worrying about SA and Driver rating. Too much stupid stuff happens during online races. Rarely do I think, "that was a nice clean fight" with anyone anymore.

The GR2 TT at Suzuka is pretty fun. Was surprised I was quickest in the Lexus.

It is actually, very fun. My favorite track of all time. I thought the NSX would be a good pick and I was absolutely milking it. I'll try my luck with one of the GTRs.
