Insurance= i dont wana talk about it, its more expensive here and you guys dont even have mother nature to worry about aka snow

So even though the car is 30k... owning it and keeping it up to date adds so much more.
I pay 50, my dad pays the other 50 haha. It's 400 a month so I basically pay half everything and all my gas. I make roughly 1200 a month so it's not bad, the rest goes towards college and mods

I understood, I am going to guess with the college mention that you graduated early or are taking college level classes currently. Either way sounds like your off to a great start and I would be lying if I said I wished I hadn't made a different choice at your age.

Either way though 50 for insurance I agree, I constantly hear I have cheap insurance @ 116 a month covering the Vette, FR-S and G8 of my wifes. Even with just the Vette when I met my wife is was still around 75-80 a month just for me and I have a clean record after 2005.... lol. (I also carry full coverage on everything with the exception of the Vette its only Comprehensive not Collision)

Take advantage of that insurance rate until your 25 if you can lol, it will save you a lot of money. Just go after your Masters in Engineering lol.

I'm taking multiple classes for college credit, and I save about 400 a month for college. I plan to major in geology, I'm really interested in it, makes great money, and I have many family members in the business. My cousin just
Graduated with a major in geology and is making three figures, that sounds pretty nice to me. Thanks for the advice!

Go for it, I definitely wish you luck. I went the Military route even with my parents offering to pay. I often wonder what it would have been like to make a different choice at that fork in the road and have gone for Engineering.

Either way just random off topic reminiscing.

Well couple things @mrauburnhd

Unfortunately you are a walking statistic.

Do you know what percentage of teens crash their first car? I know I did, granted it was just a fender bender and was fixed, I had the car all up through most of college. Granted it was a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 with over 100k miles that i picked up for $2.5k off of a family member.

Secondly almost everyone changes their major in college. At least once.

I started as a as an architecture major, switched to accounting, then finally got my degree in finance. Now I am an accountant.

But that’s me, I am only saying this because when I was 17 going into college I told all the nay sayers nope. I wont crash...nope I wont change my degree. Then life happens...

It is in no way a bad idea, don't take that from my post at all. I am happy with where I am but I was stubborn and had to do things my way for a long time not taking the advice I was constantly given. I Graduated a year early and had quite a few college classes accomplished. I could have made a very different choice and the thought of wondering what would have happened is one I have thought about many times. Its just a part of life and a curiosity for me after reaching this point in my life.

Either way though on your post, the only advice I would give you is to talk to the Air Force, not the Army, not the Navy (Being out for 6 months at a time can be fun but it can also be hard to be away especially if you have someone you care about/family), the Air Force will take great care of you and while all the Branches Tease each other I have yet to meet a service member who felt otherwise. None of us regret where we choose to serve but we all saw the differences.

Yeah I understand all that, I'm also thinking about the medical field. So far I've had my brz and I haven't crashed it so wish me luck. You should see the amount of kids at my school who drive their daddies mustangs and literally back into eachother in the parking lot... The only other "expensive" car I like in my parking lot is my friends 95 supra, the rest are mustangs, camaros, and bmws, and most of them don't pay a dime

God isn't that the truth. I wrecked to but I think it was my 3rd car, I went through cars a lot lol, hell I still do its just me.

I wanted to be an Engineer, I still would like to have taken that path. However with all my time in the military, then my own business and then the private sector I was well versed and already had so many years in the IT Field that's where I choose to go because it was the smart choice to not waste over 10 years of experience (Crap its almost over 15 years... I am getting old... or it feels like it now) so I went with an Information Technology and Networking Security Degree.

Remember no matter what you do to pay the bill's, if you want to get out of college and have a real chance be involved in the field of study your pursuing even if its for free do it. Get everything you can for your resume because that first job after college can be a hard thing to get with no related experience and many fall into that trap.

Oh and Engineers make 3 figures quite often too as do many other professions. Don't set anything in stone just yet, look around and explore you have a chance to really find out a lot about what you can do and the options you have.

Again good luck... I am starting to feel like I'm giving advice to my son and he is only 7 this is just too soon lol.

Yeah I'm sure I will probably change my mind. my brother went to ASU for a few months, dropped out, and now hes involved with some very bad people so i try to use his mistakes as my motivation to not go down that path, once again thanks for the advice
