We both end up at a red light, we are in the same lane and he is 2 cars behind me. As traffic begins to move I change into the left lane which is moving faster than the lane we were in. I think this is when he first noticed my car--and it is when it all began.

He is now a few cars behind me, in heavy traffic. Eventually he attempts to pass me and when side by side he threw a few revs, which I didn't acknowledge. He then gets set back in a line of cars while my lane is cruising and I gradually gain a mile or two. I thought that was the end of that.

I look in my rear view and see the faintest glimpse of poor light spread of aftermarket HID and yellow fog lights. There was probably 20 cars between he and I at this point and at least 1-2 miles. I literally say to myself "I give it 10 minutes", this is at 5:38pm. Traffic dies down and at 5:44 I see his headlights approaching quickly, hardly any other cars in the mix.

Its 5:46 now, and of course he approaches and paces me, revving his motor. He eventually had to let off and get behind me because of a car that was in his lane. As I pass him I said what the hell and downshifted and let it rip. Up until now I gave him 0 acknowledgement. This got him fired up.

There are now a few cars on the highway, left lane consistently moving faster than the right. He attempts to pass, and he does, but then gets squashed back again. This effing frustrated douche then decides to pass cars on the shoulder just to get ahead of me. Once he got to a clearing in the right lane he went WOT and got probably 1/2 mile distance on me. I kept normal pace with the rest of traffic and eventually reached him. He is stuck in the right lane behind a car, with no option to pass since there was a car in the left lane blocking him. I approach in the left lane and as I pass him, he revs like crazy and I lifted my hand in a "what the fuck dude" gesture. He then gets off at an exit a minute later.

Sorry for the long story, but I haven't see this level of douchery in a while.
You initiated it in the second time and got his blood going, you should've just kept at the speed limit and not done anything.....

I didn't initiate anything, I gave him a whiff of a response. I realize in a perfect world that doing nothing is the wisest choice, but it was entertaining to see how desperate someone can be over nothing.

My favorite cars with the "Out of job yet" are the rotted out and falling apart 12 year old trucks and minivans. I always just think "ya buddy you are helping the economy in a huge way".

Sure they are. Their local god-fearing, good ol' Christian 'murican mechanics are supporting their families on those people.

But until Americans can pull off Japanese style car practices i.e. reliability for more than 100k, i'll stick to Toyota/Honda

Nah. I am talking the ones that haven't seen a mechanic since the warranty ran out.
You know, red tape tail lights, one headlight, spewing smoke, bailing wire specials.

The day that I got my BRZ and came out of the dealer I was at a red light a guy in a truck came up beside me and began to rev his engine I had my windows down and began to chuckle at his attempt to get me to race him and immediately when the light turned green he launched screeching his wheels. He did this twice and I just sat there accelerating normally and laughing at this guy making himself look like a total tool.

Oddly enough, my father works for Toyota. My mom also leases a Rav4, which, incidentally is also made in Canada, just down the highway from where they live.

Can someone explain to me how "foreign" cars are ruining the NA economy? Especially when some of these foreign plants in Canada and the USA are making some of, if not the best selling cars for the past 10-15 years

Back when I was in college, I was driving home from class one day. This was right around the time when the new BMW M5 came out, must have been 2010 or 2011. I was at a red light beside one of them, can't recall if it had real plates, dealer plates or test drive plates though. Anyhow, I hear this heavenly sound coming from beside me, and the dude was clearly going to launch it when the light turned green.

I heard a massive screech of the tires, the dude took off like a shot from a gun, lost control, went up onto a curb and into a hydro pole. It was glorious.

Not a come race me moment per say, but I almost got steam rolled by a minivan and SUV in the last two days (was pretty sure the SUV was going to rear-end me hard as the woman who was driving swung through the jug handle way too fast and continued to accelerate towards me despite the fact that the light was red and I was fully stopped)...

Point of the story is that there are a number of crazy ass people on straight shopping rampages right now... Be careful out there.

*Also if you're in central Jersey the police presence has been beefed up to an incredible extent... On my short 10-15 minute drive to the gym I must have passed 3-4 different squad cars on the way there and another 3-4 on the way back (one of which could have got me good as my FR-S was indulging itself a little too much on one of the backroads)...

Woodstock area would be done without Toyota and the Cami plant. Not to mention all the parts plants nearby that supply them.

Even the imports create thousands of good paying (very, very good in some cases) jobs at the ports and transportation industry. I once saw a car from out west with a bumper sticker that read "United Port Workers - I still have a job. Keep buying imports". I figured he would have to be one ballsy guy to go park in a Canadian plant parking lot though. I get nervous enough when I have to go the Windsor Chrysler plant since they make me park in the employee lot with all the Challengers, Dakotas and Minivans (many of which are old and falling apart by the way).

That's true in Cambridge as well. I mean, Denso is right across the road from them there, but I believe that Denso plant does suspension and nothing else. (totally misread that first part) But, Cambridge does have many, many jobs because of Toyota and their suppliers.

However, my dad says that with the Corolla plant in Louisiana and the newest one in Mexico, he's not sure what's going to happen to his job. They make the Corolla (and used to do the Matrix) and the Rx3XX there. Sounds like they might get the "K" modular platform, which supports the Camry, Corolla, Highlander and a few others, so it's not all bad news.

Being Canadian, I roll my eyes every time I see one of those stickers on a Focus. Maybe he's really looking forward to an early retirement?!?
