Nope it was always pretty neat and tidy. Maybe a cigarettes' pack on the doghouse though. Didn't need to put stuff on the dash when you had something the size of a card table beside you.
Besides the COG was something like 12 feet so any weight above the windows could roll you onto your side in a 2 degree turn at 20MPH.

lol... I thought as I was typing, "He would've done that if true."

Speaking of stupid tall CoG, what was that POS vehicle we rented driving over Donner Pass? I still have nightmares.

I don't remember. Probably blocked it. Hyundai something or other comes to mind but not sure.

While waiting for my grandson to 3D print some doors for the van I decided to get started on another one of my Cars I Used to Own series.

Mine was actually a '66 but since the '69 kit was readily available and cheap I evoked the "Meh close enough" rule.

It is the latest release from Round 2 (They own AMT) and I was not really impressed. There was so much flash and massive mold lines it was just a vagally Corvair shaped chunk of styrene. I was so shocked that I didn't even think to take pictures but the mold seems on the rear of the body were so big it looked like a '59 caddy! It was disappointing but of course not insurmountable.

As always I started on the engine. It required a great deal of cleanup as well but went together nicely. This will be another rather worn and well used build as mine was 14 years old and all original when I got it.

Without camera flash

And with (it is actually black)

Can't see much when it is place. And yes I am getting sick of doing red cars but this is the last one for a while.

This was going to be a simple out of the box build but that engine bay needs a LOT of work since the only other kit part is a battery.

Needs to be closer to:

I can see the photos fine. Good enough to tell the model has four carbs meaning it's the 140h.p. version not the 110 h.p. two carbs shown in the last photo. Also, the model has some weird ass half shafts closer to those used on the pre '64 cars. Doesn't look anything like what came on the '65 and newer cars. However, if it all fits the "Meh close enough" rule for tcoat I'm good with that.
Funny thing is, I had an original AMT Covair model kit brand new still sealed in the box. (Well until my young nephew got his paws on it and all my other models...) Anyway, you could build the car as a base Monza 110, a Corsa 140, a Yenko Stinger or a Fitch Sprint. The package art looked nothing like what is shown here with the the Fitch Sprint Ventop roof extension.

The real picture I showed was just a random one from the internet to show how crowded it should be back there. I have no existing pictures of my real car. Doubt any were ever even taken unless it happens to be in the background of something.
Mine was the 140HP four carb like the kit.
Ya they have some weird idea of the axles going but I can live with that. There is also no firewall, heater duct, relays or voltage regulator, spare tire or mount, or even complete flashings around the engine. Just a basic engine that sticks up through a gapping hole in the floor. Those I can't live with as it would just look silly when you open the hood.
The Corvair kit has been rereleased many, many, times over the years. Most have one or two of the optional builds of the original kit but none have them all. Any of the original kits with all options now bring big bucks on the collector market and would be a complete waste to actually build!
This kit is from a 2017 release and boy oh boy are those molds tired.

Did you change locations? They are on a file sharing service and get blocked at certain locations. I can't see them at work but can see them fine at home.

It did this to me too. I could only see the first photo, then went back to the thread and a bunch more popped up.

Actually the newer pictures are all directly from a model car forum that allows you to directly upload to them so no sharing service middleman. Now of course that forum could be blocked that would give the same affect.
