Sorry for the delay. Work trip to Cherry Hill NJ then off to Monterey CA. I'll be back tomorrow. So far so good though. No huge change in ride quality. Yakima rack with fairing makes zero noise up to 80.

Nice, I just got the same wheels in 17x9, hard to beat for the price. Only downside is they are a few lbs heavier than the Weds.

Let's face it though, the large majority of car owners have no idea what orange peel is, and would never be able to spot it unless it was specifically pointed out to them. That may be why that painting process is so widely used. I am astonished at every black car I see on the road that looks like Animal from the Muppets went at it with a rotary and sandpaper. But, most people don't even notice the crime. Only people with an eye for that kind of thing notice, generally. I had my own detailing business for while and like mentioned, you can remove it (or most of it) with the proper processes. Still sucks though!

Or, like another said, wet sanding then polishing out. But, you have a lot more chance to mess things up with that approach, unless you know what you are doing. Personally, for a car that is a DD or driven regularly, I would just give it a one step polish and call it good.

What's the benefit of the strap? Even if you pull it closed don't you still need to yank your hand out of the way quickly so it doesn't get jammed by the door?

At the same time making sure the strap doesn't get caught between the trunk and lid. Isn't it easier to just close your trunk by pushing down on/slamming the lid?
