91,93,94 here. However most widely available is 91 for sure.

91 octane only up where I am and ask any tuner who's done both and they'll say that they're comparable in octane, we've actually been asked if it's 89 lol though the Canadian is slightly worse due to winter blends.
Both our cars were tuned by the same person with the same engines and turbos and made near as makes no difference the same power. Now a larger turbo was installed and at the same psi he makes less power.....? Am I the only one who doesn't understand what is going on?

Why did you go with 9:1? You could have made more power on a stock bottom end.

That's what I don't get. He's making less power than people with stock engines and smaller turbos.
I went built because our gas is crap and I wanted the safety factor with larger numbers

That's why I almost put new rods in with factory pistons. That an e85.

I've thought about that myself since the rods seem to be the real issue. Or get some JE 13.5:1 pistons.

Thought abut that too, but since we can also get custom comp. ratio I'd just get custom 12.5:1 like stock and call it a day.

It could be a great many factors weighing in here. For one, given the same conditions and just changing compression, the lower compression motor will always make less power. That said, his motor is actually slightly lower compression than yours at 9:1 vs 9.5:1. Not sure if that is really such a huge factor with such a minute change. Where they both may be 91 octane, CA 91 performs much closer to an 89 from every other state here in the US. Not only that, your turbo is actually the larger of the two if we're looking at wheel size here. Your PTE5858 uses a 58mm inducer vs his 51, and 58mm turbine wheel vs his 54. I don't know where this larger turbo statement came from. Moral of the story here is there are far too many fine details to consider and no reason at all to point fingers. If pmccut wants to make more power now he is more than welcome to come back and we'll swap in the larger injectors. When Bill says the larger injectors sacrifice a bit of drivability, that's the perfectionist side of him talking. You or I would likely not notice a hit in that area at all, and instead be enjoying all the extra power to be gained.

Sincerely,

Zach

The larger turbo statement came from him starting with him starting with a gt28 and stepping up to a 3076 to which he made no more power on the same psi. He was tuned on the same fuel he had when it was done the first time so that's not the issue unless he did in fact get 89 instead of 91. What I don't get is y go back to the stock injectors? Y not go to say the 550s and not run them at 100%? Your drivability should be near stock anyway because you don't cruise on the ports. I have 1000's and with the speed density tune my drivability is fine. Just help me to understand the logic behind running stockers at 100% vs 550' at say 75%? Would it not give you more head room and a greater margin of safety?

Does that statement not tell you he's not happy with the power levels?

Soooo, I can smell coolant in my engine bay, but my exhaust is clean as a whistle.

Almost smells as though it is coming from the radiator. But its not consistent.

Is your overflow over full? Could be burping out and getting on the exhaust. Is it loosing coolant or do u just smell it?
