"anyone know why the Ts, PP package or the new improved engine (red manifold) failed emissions tests on the automatic?"
This is a discussion forum. Why should expanding on the topic and examining the details be considered an issue of reading comprehension? Does everyone in this thread who elaborated on their opinions have poor reading comprehension?

Yes, I know they can't change the car and attempt to sell it under the old certification. Why is it impossible for Subaru to re-certify a car if they want to pay for it though?

According to you...yes.

Nobody said it was impossible. We said they have a business case for not doing it. I though you just said you understood that.

Oh and your one offhand mention of the word "administrative" hardly qualifies as your stating that you understood that concept.

Dude, no one said they couldn't.

Yes, it does. The way I phrased it specifically divided my point into two parts: the administrative side, and what is coming out of the tailpipe. Go back and read it. I just googled the word "administrative" and google's first definition is "relating to the running of a business." My understanding of that definition is why I used the word. Claiming I don't understand what I said, even though I used the word correctly, and clearly noted the contrast by mentioning the actual tailpipe emissions, is foolish.

Then people should stop ignoring that in their posts about certifications. I never said they could use different parts on an old cert. That's another thing I specifically acknowledged earlier.

And that argument would end with me explaining what light scattering is, and how the color of the sky can be different based on one's location and what part of the sky one is looking at. Try again, grasshopper.

much like the age old question of how many licks does it take to get to the center of a lollipop...might just have to suffer a bit and just get a manual. :P

All this heated argument is about +5 HP "improvement"? Somebody used a bicycle-with-training-wheels analogy to explain why that oh-so-great 5HP wasn't added to AT. My AT has +100 HP "improvement" and manages that power like it had from factory with CARB certification.

That 5HP is just bogus and AT is not missing any measurable "improvement".

not really, I wasn't concerned with the 5hp...but for about a grand...to get brembos, better shocks and nicer looking engine bay plus 5hp and its spritely gearing... well that would be nice.
