My view on that review is simple. EVO Magazine like many other print car magazines are having an ever decreasing circulation due to enthusiasts turning to online sources such as blogs, forums for their motoring news and reviews (also magazines such as EVO UK can be downloaded for free as a PDF from many file sharing sites). They simply wanted to create a controversy and an unnecessary controversy to increase traffic to their online media to increase advertising revenue and hopefully sales of their print magazine. They succeeded massively by giving the BRZ a negative review - just take a look at how many people have viewed that video and given it a negative comment! In the latest issue they have reviewed a manual GT86 and said it is massively better than the BRZ due to a slightly different suspension set up.

UK magazines are never as objective as the US ones. They are always biased towards European brands and are always quick to review and praise certain models when they are updated (eg C63 AMG, M3 Competition Pack) and these models are regularly featured in group tests whereas the 2012 Lexus ISF (with the new SACHS suspension set up, BBS wheels, 2 tone interior) hasn't featured in any UK magazine group test! The only time I have seen the 2012 IS-F make an appearance in the UK media is on the Lexus UK facebook page!

Went to the showroom today, the car is tight small and sexy, the 16'' wheels fit the little car, they are darker in person, the interior is good even though it was the standard model, from inside everything is simple and nice, all black is interior is good, the rear seats are for small people or kids( roomier than Supras and 997's rear seats and less roomy than gdb impreza and the 3 doors mk4 golf, the 6mt is smooth and promising, Nice work from Toyota/Subaru.

Good to know! Am still waiting to see one for real in the UK. Did the dealer mention demand or waiting times at all to get one?

the salesman mentioned that they have 130 in stock !! and if the customer wants the high spec model in manual or wants change the specs to fit their needs, it will take around 3-4 months to get

Any indication of what price a high spec manual would be? Lower than the high spec auto i guess?

Looking at the price difference between the auto and manual in the standard model, the manual comes 5k cheaper, i would say 120k if you want it with the aero kit and 110k if you don't.

here is a link to their website, all prices and specs is there

Yes I have see that before - no mention of mid or top spec manuals, only basic MT. The aL-Futtaim pdf brochure states the mid AT model has HIDs/LEDs whereas the website only lists them on the 125k top model.

I think I will settle for a mid spec AT as long as it has the HID lights. It is the UAE after all and a 4-5 month wait(= AED 1500 a month additional spend on a rental car), so I think it would be better to get something that is readily available in stock and something that will have better re-sale value.

I'm waiting for al futtaim to contact me soon. I am expecting a test car for 5 days. I will try to convince them to send me a manual model. R
I didn't drive manual in 3 years. It was fun to drive the 86 on the track now let's see how it goes on the road.

She looks calm on the road.. Definitely more refined than a Honda S2000.

Plus, apparently the production model has no space saver spare tire? It just stands out in the middle of the trunk like the one in the picture

A picture I found of the car in the Omani showroom.

I dislike Red colours in cars from some reason. Except those dark red (cherry red) like the red used in GMC's or Caddillacs.
