So what did we determine? MT>AT? We already knew that

Nah - I think we determined that it's about 'want', not 'need'. Just like you don't need forced induction for daily driving, you don't need an MT either. an AT is probably the more practical of the two for driving in traffic.
Just like folks say that an MT is more fun than an AT, those with FI will say that more power is more fun as well. Daily driving in traffic doesn't really allow one to use the more 'fun' aspects of whatever choice they've made. It's only when you get away from the crowd; whether it be in the canyons or track where the real fun factor begins. But for daily driving - whatever. Just stay safe and don't drive like an asshat if you're around others.

I absolutely love MT on cars, in fact, every car (except one, a 1988 Z24) I've owned has been a MT (by choice). To me, it's more engaging and today, I won't consider a car that doesn't offer MT. (are you listening Porsche/Ferrari). But AT's have really advanced, even over the MT in performance over the years. That said, I'll trade the 0.5sec 0-60 for the fun of a MT. |

There is some dude that posts pictures of his "track inspired" S2000, and people give him so much crap about it because he doesn't take it to the track. I see both sides of it, but at the end of the day it's HIS car. I like to live and let live, but I will poke fun where I can, just for funsies.

The take rate on manuals is ridiculously low. Also why would you want to put an antiquated manual transmission in a high tech car? I cannot imagine a 458, 488GTB, GT3 with a manual. If there was interest ... the car cos would produce them. As for smaller cars (86). Its only a matter of time before they are mostly DCT. A DCT works better with close range high rpm motors. Forum enthusiasts may like manuals, but you guys make up a very small % of the buying public.

i went FI not because i felt that the car needed it; but because i wanted it. before going FI, i thought that i'd use it to speed up and merge better; or not let that guy get in front of me when merging etc. well, after going FI, i tend to drive more sedately in normal traffic. i'm more apathetic about someone getting in front of me than i was before. do i use my FI to advantage in daily driving? yes, i tap into it a little just about every day. but it's only in the wee hours of the morning (i get to work by 5:30 am) when there are few cars around and i'm on industrial areas. i'm not screeching around corners, and racing to the next one. it's just the little extra grunt coming out of a corner for a few seconds which i didn't have before which required me to rev out the engine. did i need FI to achieve that kind of acceleration? nope. but i just like not having to do so. just about everything i've done to my car is a personal choice based solely on want. i really can't justify any of them based on need. but that, IMHO is the beauty of having choices and freedom, and i consider myself fortunate to be able to make those choices in a world where 'need' often applies to food and shelter, not cars.

I usually had my wife and kid with me, plus we didn't vape, so we didn't really fit in haha.
