The black smoke is not what a Cat removes from your exhaust.
"The catalyst helps to convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. It converts the hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water. It also converts the nitrogen oxides back into nitrogen and oxygen." Just get a high flow CAT =]

You're cruel.
For the record, I've never watched the show. But I've been to the internet. Tis a silly place. On the exhaust: Does anyone know if there are any potential technical problems caused by running two cans off of the same exhaust pipe? I personally am not really a fan of the setup in general but I know a LOT of exhausts do it. I'm interested in this mostly for curiosity's sake. I want the Milltek myself. Nathan |

Modern diesels[I have one] run very clean and quiet, most without a hint of anything from the exhaust. It doesn't smell quite as sweet as the 86 in the garage but it's certainly not obnoxious. It also has a catalytic converter fitted just after the turbo. Any cop should be capable of picking up the stink when they follow your car without a cat and should pull it over and take it off the road until it's fixed. I hate negative emission controls that give small short term savings in exchange for higher fuel consumption, shorter engine life and rapid loss of efficiency. Thinking diesel EGR that blocks the inlet manifold.[not mine] However catalytic converters have transformed the air we breath while driving and are simple, long lasting and have minimal effect on efficiency. |

If there is enough air for the extra fuel and the fuel pump/injectors/combustion chamber/exhaust/turbo limitations aren't exceeded, then with the correct mixture the emissions should be acceptable. |

Just an FYI, the black that comes out of the exhaust of a built diesel is not smoke it is soot. It doesn't get into the air and stay there it settles to the ground. I would rather drive around the diesels than a cat-less car.
Generally (to an extent) the more you mod a diesel the better economy you get. |

1. Small shop, great guys that are passionate about what they do and produce. 2. Cost, much cheaper and no sacrifice in performance/quality. 3. Design, well thought out, goes above my head in how it works, but it does. 4. Nameless all hand built in house, unsure about Perrin. 5. Sound, unresonated Perrin is raspy as hell. Resonated is okay, but the Nameless rocks it in sound so far with the stock midpipe. 6. Overpipe design combined into one piece rather than charging you 2X for a bent pipe to a front pipe 7. Perrin seems more mainstream while Nameless is that small shop that surprises the hell out of people with the products they make. Nothing against Perrin whatsoever. I've considered buying their headerback because it has proven performance and a long track record with Subaru's. I will most likely be buying a Perrin product for my car at some point, like the pulley for starters. The Nameless system offers the same performance, even with their tri stepped header but weighs quite a bit less overall. You really can't go wrong with either company. It's simply a matter of taste and who you are proud to support. The Nameless guys are fun to work with and I had a great experience talking to Jason so far. I'm sure if I contacted Perrin, it would be the same. Jeff is working hard on tuning the cars now and I'm interested in those threads a lot. Both companies have their headers coming soon. Nameless posted an update about their flanges coming in for them, but they're tweaking the design for production mode. Perrin I haven't gotten/seen an update in regards to their header.
