I haven't used atmo dumps since early 2000's when I put one on my DSM and instantly welded a recirc tube onto it.

What's funny is damn near every single Subaru in my local area loves the open dump and they want it as loud and annoying as possible. I think it sounds idiotic and just shows how much of the turbo you are wasting.

Wasting?

And I can definitely tell my open dump is louder but honestly not as ridiculous as you guys are describing. I have the Invidia Q300 exhaust which is fairly quiet so the open dump compliments it well IMO.

Well those subie guys need something to help get attention, certainly wont do it by looks alone

I grew up in an area with rustangs and hondumbs that basically supported the fact the louder you were the slower you were lol. So I vowed never ever to have a loud car unless it had 8+ cyls and deep lobes with power to back

The wastegate opens and wastes exhaust gases that should be spinning your turbo up to 30 psi. The lower the psi you run the more it has to open and the more exhaust gases have to be wasted to prevent the turbo from spooling more.

Hey boys, new owner of the FBM. I got it off of kingkai23 and had a question about the slim fans. Im missing some of the mounts, pretty much all of them. Is there another specific way to mount?

So we're you saying that is a bad thing rather than rerouting it? Besides sound I mean?

I'm running a recirc WG on a 2867 and it's beautifully quiet. All the lovely noises are still there, just not obnoxious. Well worth the minor upgrade cost if you prefer a more ear friendly ride.

Most car parts stores carry fan mounting kits, they're about 99% all universal.

Shit, I've been driving with my FBM base kit (w/ GTX2867R turbo) and so far loving it. The lowered compression ratio is pretty sweet (once it gets past 3k). LJ [@ fullblown] was able to produce 406rwhp on E60 (winter blend) with 18psi. My Greddy Profec control sometimes spikes up to 22psi but levels at 18. What I found interesting is on my high boost setting my boost start is at 15psi. My low boost setting (for pump 91) doesn't have a boost start set. You can feel the car lunch when it does hit 15psi tho.

But most of my noise is from having no catalytic converter and silencers on my Greddy Evo 3 exhaust. Almost sounds like a crossbreed between a ricer and a classic LOL. I never heard anything like it before. I'll have to upload a video of it sometime in the near future. I just finished my graduate class so open for fun in the summer! Yeahya! lol
