Don't feel bad, I accidently bought a weapon because I was trying to preview it and hit the A button by accident.

Good thing I picked up a Suros Regime from a purple engram and got my Husk of the Pit upgraded to a legendary last night. That's what I was actually doing when MokSpeed sent me the invite to do the Raid. I was running the "You've awoken the Hive!" mission over and over so I could get the 500 kills I needed to upgrade it. Took about 30 minutes but much faster than trying to run around and do it.

And they really need to have a "confirm purchase" prompt when buying weapons/gear so you don't do what I did the other day.

I've been grinding crucible to get rank 3 as well. Got to rank 3 last night but need 50 more marks, just for The Satterienne Rapier. Seems stupid to sell a gun that's good for PvE by making you play the crucible.
I got TFWPKY from an engram, way better than The Devil You Don't.

Edit-And to make things worse, the new legendary stuff that is being sold by the Vanguard and factions suck. I've looked at everything and none of it is anything I really want. Maybe the handcannon that the Crucible quartermaster is selling.

I wasn't a fan of scout rifles all too much. Until I got one with Firefly and Outlaw. Thrall swarms go boom.

I've been using Up For Anything (vanguard low impact 38-round mag semi-bullet hose auto rifle) for a few weeks just because it was the first avenue available to me for a usable 331 dmg legendary primary. I've been trying to use all the weapon types (I've found pulse rifles and shotguns still don't gel well with me).

I still prefer the hard hitting precision weapons (hand cannons, scout rifles, high impact low ROF anything) where I can make my ammo/damage ratio more efficient (I don't mind drawing a battle out if I can tactfully pick them off with headshots)... However, UFA is the first legendary I have at 331, and the bullet hose theme is pretty damn fun. It's like a constant stream of damage, instead of whipping around "pop" headshot, "pop" headshot... Its "brattattat-pop-taatattat-pop-taatatatata-pop. Fire in bursts. With nearly 600 ammo and nearly 40 rounds per mag, it's just a different mentality, a little more ballsy and less restrained. It can still stagger/stunlock targets, you just need to land more crits. I also got the something-SOS but haven't used it much yet, it has a better sound and has more recoil and even less impact, but a 72 round mag is bananas. Might as well be shooting paper balls from a Gatling gun.

TDYK Vanguard version was my go to, and it was my first 300 damage primary as well... Dat range... I found another version as a drop with Third Eye and something else... TDYK whoops ass but now it truly is just a "legend". I guess it's only useful in Crucible. I feel like I'm wasting my time using maxed weapons, like I should always be leveling something. I'll throw on my highest level kit for a raid or NF, but other times I feel like I have a responsibility to constantly level up weapons.

So it appears I finally got my "gift" from Bungie. I had special orders with the Postmaster when I logged in. When I opened it I got the Pulse Rifle "Time on Target".

Also, after getting my Husk of the Pit upgraded to Eidolon Ally I noticed a curious thing. It's damage is less than the current legendary/exotic weapons. Any guess why that is?

I'm not the best and I suck at PvP but I can help out as much as possible. You can downloaded the Bungie APP and look up the clan Gypsy Hunters. Quite a few of the guys off this forum are in it.

I just started over the break. Some tips from my experience:

• Don't worry about the story. It will only confuse you.
• Run through all the story missions. Think of lv 1-20 as an extended tutorial. The game starts at level 20.
• The Tower is your go-to place. This is where you get bounties, trade in your weapons/armor engrams that you find, and buy armor/weapon upgrades later on.
• At level 20, you can do PvP aka Player vs Player (think of CoD matchmaking) and PvE aka Player vs Environment (if you're familiar with MMOs, this is raids).
• Do all the bounties that you can when level 20. You get bounties from the Tower. They give you reputation points for certain factions. You use reputation points to buy armor and weapons.

I'm going to try decode the story line, even though I have been hearing its not the best or very confusing to most. I guess I need to wait until I get the expansions for that.
Anyway, the game really doesn't start till level 20? Damn, looks like I got some work to do. I only played a bit and reached level 3 I believe. So far reading back on this thread it has been helpful, but once you reach 23-25, it no longer has any relevancy to my beginning.
