TIL, or better yet I am reminded, how lazy civilian contractors can be. One of my fellow strength coaches is constantly rambling on about how other contractors are being paid more and that he won't do more than the bare minimum (which is very, very little mind you) of work, and how he's trying to figure out how he can transfer to other companies.

Agreed. Maybe I'm just extra motivated with this job since it's a path towards 'the dream job'

I agree with hum. And I did *before* I read that the new folks are a public company. There's a chance that they'll want the PEOPLE, but unless there is someone making the transition who was part of the negotiation and made it clear that y'all are the value... expect the unexpected and be prepared.
Shareholders > upper management > customers > the product > the people who actually make it happen.
Hopefully your situation is one of the rare ones where the talent is what they were after as much as anything else.

Yeah, I'd be a bit more concerned if the value was in some product or patent license. My division is mainly a services business, and this is a new market for the new company, so our jobs are pretty safe.

TIL that Worf appears in more episodes than any other Star Trek character, followed by Chief O'Brien.

"Duckduckgoing" doesn't seem to have quite the same ring as "googling".

Yeah, because Worf was on both TNG and DS9 as was O'Brien.

Unfortunately, no. I keep giving them a chance but they never make the cut. Hope springs eternal.

Actually I am starting to watch DS9 now, that's how I learned of this.

I really enjoyed Voyager if you never watched that, I forget if that came after DS9.

The whole premise of the ST series was traveling and discovering new things.
DS9 takes that whole process and throws it out the window resulting in a very expensive soap opera.
