I do know of at least a couple drivers in our region that are not running their cars at this event because they don't want to risk anything before Nationals. Although, some will still be there to hoon it up in other cars. Either way, we'll definitely take your suggestion and see if we can move the event further away from Nationals.
The event definitely sounds like a good way to kill a set of tires and have fun doing so. Overnight would be so nice lol.

Im sure the national contingent is a small number of people who have schedule conflict for this so I understand why its not a big deal overall.

You can definitely kill some tires at this event if you want and many have. During our 2012 24 Hr event when the twins first came out, Jadrice and I spent all night swapping tires between his FR-S and my BRZ. We ran the OEM Primacy's, Dunlop Z1 Star Specs, and 2 different sets of A6s. It also rained and dried up during that time. We learned a LOT about the cars that night and it was FUN!!

Attendance is low everywhere this weekend, it seems. The SEDIV event in Atlanta is begging for attendance.... we're begging for attendance... the SCR event next weekend (when we actually ARE on the road to Lincoln) is begging for attendance. Don't know if Nationals actually plays into that at all, but... tough few weeks it seems :-\

I'm just disappointed that my last weekend of Nationals prep won't be spent practicing what I REALLY need to be practicing...... drinking beer

Everyone wants to make events at the HOTTEST time of year. Eff this. Im skipping a local (non-SCCA) event this weekend. I was looking for a ride for it but we are in the hottest days of the year, 99F highs, 120F heat index. Eff this noise.

I dont drink a lot of beer so I'm good for Nationals (I'm for a FJB-level drinker haha)

I just thought I'd pop in to say hi. I'm swapping my WRX for a new BRZ next week, and plan to run in C Street. I'm a newb at autox. Last weekend I did the Starting Line program followed by a local event in Milwaukee. I had a blast.

My goal for the next year is to simply get better. I was 8 seconds off the pace in D Street last weekend (class best was 68s, my best was 76s on all-seasons). I really want to focus on improving myself before touching the car.

Also of interest from the September Fastrack:

#14384 370Z Move to BS Proposal
The SEB will not be making classing changes within the new Street category, or within Street R (known in 2013 as
Stock), prior to the 2014 Solo Nationals.

#14280 S2000 Move to CS Proposal
Please refer to the response to letter #14384.

That 370Z move has been proposed in EVERY fastrack this year with the same response. It'll be interesting to see what happens after Nationals. I think it will move; I don't think the Miata guys are happy about running against someone with more than double the horsepower, we aren't happy, and probably the RX8 guys aren't super enthused either. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what's for dinner...

If Fenter wins though, it becomes a little tough to make that argument. I'll be rooting for Stuart, and not just because I'm a West Coast guy.

now I know this is gonna sound a little crazy...

but if rain is expected.. then it is my general observation that stock class will benefit over the st classes, and lower HP cars will have an easier time than high HP cars

which could skew the results for those using them to make a decision... such as 370z placement and stock pax

no, my tinfoil hat is not on... but maybe it should be?

Rain results are never used as a factor for classing decisions; they'd use the one dry day alone instead. But then that brings course dependency into the mix. I tend to do particularly well in rain events or on lots with low grip, and less well on lots with high grip, so my rain hopes are mostly selfish.

Tomorrow I have a SCCA event with a bunch of talented C-Street drivers so it will be the real test. Car currently has R-s3's 215/45/17, camber bolts and an alignment.

Back from the 24hr AutoX, and I want to go back to that "chasing settings" thing. I made a few runs in my car... was mid 45s and felt pretty good about it. I knew there was .3-.4 seconds I left on course... but whatever. Then I put a friend of mine in it that normally drives Kart Mod. On his 2nd run, he puts down a 44.5xx. "MOTHERF#$@ER! How in the hell do I find another second?"

So instead of tinkering with the car and chasing settings, I just had to go out and be faster. He showed me it was in the car, and I just had to find it. All my fault! Eventually I ran a 44.421 and learned a hell of a lot from chasing down that last second.

We also used a friend's FRS on the OEM Michelins for "The Prius Challenge". Everybody that drove the car had a blast and wanted a Toyobaru of their own. They all said it wasn't very fast on those tires, but it was certainly fun. After putting 15 runs into it basically hotlapping... the tires were so hot that you couldn't touch them, but the tread looked as perfect as the day he bought the car.

Well had a huge event today at the NNJR SCCA event, 160 entries and a long day. C-Street had a bunch of talented guys. One driver Chris Carmenini who will be at nationals won the class with his RX-8 with a 54.6, another RX-8 came in 2nd with a 55.4 and I was third with a 55.5. I don't consider myself to be on the same level as Chris, but 9 tenths imo would be very difficult to find in my car on the current set up. Good luck to you guys out there next week and I am curious to see how Chris finishes.

I hope this doesn't come off as mean or being a **** or anything, but I watched your video and there was definitely 9 tenths you could have taken off by slowing down more, turning in earlier and tightening your lines.
