I'll keep an eye out for the meet, adding my currently bone stock car to the mix...

Hello everyone, now that the holidays have passed and I'm pretty much moved in, I have free time! I'm Jordan and I just moved back to Austin from Flagstaff, AZ. I drive a 2013 SWP BRZ that's pretty much stock with the exception of a rear diffuser. Hope to see y'all around!

Nice! Whereabouts in town might we be likely to spot you?

Question XM Traffic

Any of you with the Nav head unit have any luck with the traffic information? For me its been worse than no information... for example it will pester me constantly with "traffic jam ahead" when its totally open / clear.. and then I will run into huge backups and it has nothing.

My wife's GPS traffic is almost always correct (It doesn't use XM).

I am wondering if the XM NavTraffic is just totally wrong for Austin or if there is something wrong with my NavUnit or my XM trial subscription?

Like you, traffic info is worse than useless.

All the traffic info you need is outside of 8p to 6am, avoid I35, loop 1, loop 360, hwy 183, hwy 71, and hwy 290. Oh and Lamar is bumper to bumper. :rolling:

I'm always north side Austin on Mopac and 183 near Oak Knoll Dr. for work. I don't see too many FR-S/BRZ on my commute because I dodge traffic with my schedule!

No doubt ... The left leg gets a workout on "slow-pac" during rush hour!
Nevertheless, accurate traffic info when driving to an unfamiliar Austin area would be appreciated.

LOL Unfortunately there is no way for me to get between home and work without taking 360 - which it didn't take me long to figure out why everyone either works 6-3:30 or 9:45 - 6:15. To be honest there are about 3-4 lights they need to rip out and put in an over or underpass on 360 and it would make a huge difference. You'd think with all the rich tech companies moving to Austin they'd have enough money... Right now what takes 10 minutes with no traffic takes over 1 hr if I try to go home anywhere in the 4pm to 6pm range.

The traffic info is no so much for the commute but when I need to go to the airport where there is about 5 different routes I can take or when going somewhere on Saturday there can be an accident etc.

I don't think I am going to subscribe to XM - the sound quality seems worse than FM, there aren't any particular channels I am in love with, and seems at least for our area the traffic info it feeds to our headunits is worse than worthless for Austin.

I live in Riata, there is a firestorm I've seen a few times on riata trace.

At this rate there should be a mini-riata meet after work days. A few guys at my company are rocking brz's as well.

My wife brought the car in at the scheduled time and they then (not notifying her before) said the stock on the webpage was wrong. So far I am understanding - sometimes internet stock is wrong though they should have called earlier in the day so she could refer them to me.

But then they told her they would just give her the same tire only the next model up. She even asked "are these high performance tires?" and they told her yes. And they put on Perelli P4 all seasons.

So in summary they said:
- same brand of tire but a better model (lie)
- same type of tire (lie - the one I ordered is a high performance summer tire, they installed a touring all season tire)
- high performance sport tire (lie)
- more mileage tire (true)
- more expensive tire (true by a whopping $5 per tire...)

The fact that they would intentionally mislead my wife is what makes me mad, not that their webpage was wrong. Now she feels really bad about getting the wrong type of tires when its not her fault.

Grrrrr
Update: Discount Tire sent a survey, which of course we filled out with bad numbers and wrote down the situation and said we would not be back. The discount tire regional manager today has been trying to contact us because he wants to "make it right".
