I'm going to wrap the downpipe with that gold shielding material, and slip a piece of heat shield material between the fan motor and downpipe and hopefully that will help.
How does that gold shield foil material work as a heat shield? Is it pretty effective? I've seen it on a few cars, looks a little ghetto but if it works..

It will melt. Mine already has...still running, but it's melted.

The radiator should have added most of its thickness towards the front side, not the engine. At least that is how Robispec designed it. I have it too.

Is this heat problem only for turbo or does S/C get this problem as well?

Compress air induces heat so it'll be both but not as bad as front mount turbo will have exhaust heat to contend with.

so probably It is easier to fix heat issue on S/C

that depends on whether your talking about ambient temps or charge air temps

Well there will be less of it. A lot less.

The factory car has heat issues when driven hard enough. Supercharged cars do too. You don't have to drive them as hard to make it happen. Turbo cars you have to drive them even less hard.

I think this thread is talking about influences on engine/overall under bonnet temp?

i think so, but in my case the two are very related. the main reason why i want to alleviate the underhood heat issue is because even though i have my intake in the front bumper, my intake air temps rise drastically (moreso than normal) when sitting still. this isn't an issue when just driving around, as the intake temps drop down almost immediately when you start moving, but it makes for a lot of useless data when you're logging and need to filter out the weird intake temps.

but yeah i was more or less making a bad joke. s/c == high intake air temps, turbo == high engine bay temps.

Ever thought of W2A intercooler with its own fan? It should be more consistent?

i'm going to use FA20Club's badass new cooling setup once the summer rolls around, but honestly i fear that'll make things worse as far as ambient underhood temps (all that heat is getting radiated back into the bay regardless).

the intercooler that i have is crazy efficient, i see charge air temps near or sometimes lower than ambient when i'm moving. the problem is just the few minutes that you're sitting at a light where iat's jump to 130-140 .

i'm not really sure there is a way to resolve that without venting out all that hot air somehow. i've already got every turbo shield and wrap one could imagine (except the dp... maybe i'll try that).

W2A will not have this issue provided there is enough volume and its own fan on the heat exchanger. It will eventually heat soak after driving hard for a long time though.

Fender vent, bonnet vent, remove skirt plate, don't know what else...
