Fall for it? It's clear they haven't followed it and a committee is making the decisions. Otherwise the car wouldn't be in the Scion pen. Personally, I like the "Oh, what a feeling!" catch phrase of yore. They want to use that new catch phrase to promote the car, I can use it to promote my want for a Toyota sports car.

I think Toyota is working on a hawt new Corolla S they could get you in. You seem to love front wheel drive so...

Face it, Toyota has become the brand image of the Camry generation in North America. They haven't made a RWD sports car for sale here since the 90s. How long are you going to wait?

Nope, it's a sporty, affordable compact. Nothing wrong with that...but its not a sports car.

Don't feed the troll... anyone who equates the Vette as 'more' of a sports car than the FRS/BRZ is clueless or a trolling pillock.

Breathe, breathe! Just keep telling yourself it's not going to be $30.5k OTD. You're going to make it, son.

What's the definition of a sports car?

Current Miata pricing with similar features to the entry level FRS starts at $25,830 and tops out at $28,950. Seems like Subaru/Toyota are falling in line with the pricing structure of their "competitive set".

It is a coinsidence that once this thread started there are quite a few members with single digit posts and it almost seems they are "justifying" the price? I think everybody is just mentioning his/her own opinion and there is nothing to be justified or corrected here. The price is price and it is up to someone's decision whether or not he/she will buy one.

Bleh, no thanks. Where do you get this notion that I "love front wheel drive"? My first car was a Toyota Cressida, equipped with a 7M-GE engine from the MK III Supra along with a slightly modified supra suspension. That car was RWD and I miss it dearly. As for my Celica, I wanted a GT-4 (AWD) but kind of hard to get one as they were never made in North America not to mention the difficulty of importing one. MR-2 was out as I needed a back seat.

You assume far too much.

Yes, it is the mother of all sports cars. Actually, the SI badge gave the idea to BMW set their M division and it was the inspiration for the Z name for Nissan (si in spanish ~ Z in english, get it?). Front-wheel drive is the best layout for driving dynamics. In fact, Ferdinand Porsche designed his cars with an inverted front-wheel drive layout, because he was afraid that the Civic SI's layout is way too much for most poeple's driving abilities. Did you know that Ayrton Senna was driving his Civic SI in reverse (he realized he didn't have enough talent to drive it in forward gears) and that gave birth to the NSX? BOOM, every day you learn something new

I've imported multiple RHD cars and driven a couple of the GT4-WRC of yore. They were awesome, but sports cars from Toyota have been dead for over 15 years in North America. Now they finally release a new car that you are obviously very interested in but the badge is wrong so you're not going to buy it. How does that make any sense?

Ask yourself honestly: "Will Toyota ever release another sports car in North America under the Toyota badge?"

I'll be shocked if they do, could drive away the soccer moms in their Camrys.
