Koby Subaru in mobile Alabama, lied to me about selling the car at or below msrp long enough to get me to put a thousand dollar deposit on the car, also told me I was first in line. After using my money long enough to get my preorder in they tacked $2000 above msrp and told me I was 4th in line.
order cancelled

"Salesman" was Luke, the manager was nice enough to tell me EVERY dealership in Florida and Louisiana was adding a markup so that made it acceptable business practice for them to lie to me and then argue that it was just a misunderstanding.

Definitely blacklist worthy.

Not true, my dealership in Covington, LA (Baldwin Motors) is selling the cars at MSRP, I'm the only pre-order there fyi if you want a #2 spot

So they lied to me yet again, why am I not surprised? I'll check more into other dealerships when I get back from work, thank you for the advice.

Not to distract from all the negativity but do we have a thread for Stand-up Dealerships that honor their word and that will sell at MSRP?

I dont think we will know until we actually sign the paper work with keys in hand. Once that happens, I'm all for doing a "Suggested Dealer thread."

Kinda far away but if you want to buy in Tampa I'm sure you can get MSRP at my dealership.

Did they give you your refund back?

Im having issues with my dealer.

I put down $300 in January and was the first in line. I went in on order day and gave them all my info and they said they would put it in that evening. I asked them then if they knew what there allotment and whether it would be at msrp. Their reply was no info on allotment and price was unknown but it might be above msrp depending on demand.

Went in today and asked the same questions. Not only had they not put my order in they refused to put in my order because I mentioned that I talked with another dealer who would sell me the car at MSRP when it came out.

ugh...

Someone puts a deposit down for a car they do not even have a price for or detailed spec sheet with prices on it, and some sales people see easy marks.

A lot of them are going to say anything half believable. Until you have something in writing, you should expect shifting goal posts. They know this early adopters/gotta have it demographic are the ones that are most likely to accept higher prices.

Wait 12 months go to the same dealer and I bet people could have a perfectly happy and smooth purchasing experience.

Competitive? Maybe, but this doesn't address you're blatant inability to be honest and honor the things you told someone you would do. I live in Salt Lake City and had considered purchasing a BRZ/WRX/STI from you since I'm vegas enough throughout the year. That will never happen now. In addition, I work at a dealership and this type of behavior is ridiculous. Thankfully it's a Toyota/Scion dealership and Scion will not be marking the vehicles up. So I'll talk the money I save buy buying an FR-S and and do those things that the BRZ had for the less than buying the BRZ. Works out great for all customers!

I'd add Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City, CA to the list.

The salesman, Chris Bowers, sounded scummy, gave a very rehearsed spiel reminiscent of other posts in this thread and confirmed they're charging $1k over MSRP.
