I'm 20 - perfect driving history with no accidents, claims, cancellations etc.

I currently pay $890 with Aami insurance for a 97 mx5 with alot of mods.

Given the above here are the aprox quotes with normal excess of around $800 this is what it will cost me for full comprehensive:

NRMA - $920
Aami - $1600 - 10% due to a driving course I've done = $1440
GIO - $1700 - New for old Platinum cover
Justcars - $1350
ProgressiveDirect - $1900
CBA insurance - $2200 - 20% staff discount = $1800
Shannons - $3900

I like to investigate my options.

funny that nrma is the cheapest for us younger drivers. i havent looked at nrma yet. but my cheapest quote is from just car atm for approx. 1.5k for a 22 year old in inner west with perfect driving record.

Will get quotes from nrma, coles insurance and toyota closer to the delivery date of my car.

* Justcar = $1,760.00 ($34k agreed w/$600 excess)
* Coles = $2,295.00 (Then called and they said $3,700!! haha what a joke)

I thought i was going to get screwed too, but turns out AAMI rewards long term customers
Dont rely on the online quote, call up who you are currently with and see if they offer a better price. I called Youi and they wanted my business, original price was like 160 a month and i told them i can get it cheaper, and she knocked off 30 bucks a month to get me

Since my car is arriving next week i have been looking properly at insurance quotes.

AAMI and Just Car seem to be the best i've found so far. AAMI being cheaper but Just Car allowing more freedom to modify.

Who did everyone end up going with and why?

I went with RACV. They where the same price as AMII, and have a bit more flexibility.

Try NRMA, they have been the cheapest I've come across (I'm under 25).

Just over $500 with AAMI! I am paying double for a Lexus is200 from 99. I asked why, why??? She said that there are no stats for this car yet, newer car, more safety features, part easy to find. I have house insurance with them as well, saphire driver, only one claim (not my fault).

BRZ, 26, clean history. Most of my quotes were ~$900-$1300 with the exception of AAMI which was ~$800. SGIO has a "beat by 10%" campaign at the moment so in the end settled for just under $700 with a $550 excess and agreed value of ~$41k.
