Or getting up any kind of incline. I got stuck in my driveway the other day with the stock tires on, and it has a SLIGHT incline. It was annoying, embarrassing, and complete BS lol.

I got stuck in a Riteaid parking lot that wasn't plowed correctly. Unfortunately, I had to stop because of traffic in a big mound of snow, resulting in a lot of spinning. And that's with snow tires. No one saw me though. So there's that.

Well thats good at least

So you got stuck because of clearance i'm assuming?

Was the parking lot at least empty so you could take your frustrations out by drifting around and doing donuts? haha

Ya it was at the edge of the parking lot going onto the road. The plow guy must have lifted the scraper...I could have done a better job with a shovel and 10 minutes.

And no there were many cars and a not too big parking lot. I got to do donuts a few days later though in a bigger parking lot

The day of the Super Bowl I was just riding around om clear roads and I somehow ended up on an extremely narrow road covered with snow.

It was tough to turn around, but I made it. Suddenly, a big pickup was coming the opposite direction and made a ****head move not pulling into the small shoulder spot in the road. I was forced to get as far right as possible without going into the huge moat like ditch on the side of the road while he passed.

Thank god my brother was with me and he could push the passenger side back end while I got started again. These stock Michelins definitely arent going to be on next winter!

Was out today when the storm started and the roads were very slick near me. I have Legacy GT Spec B wheels with Blizzak LM22 in 215/45/18 on. No additional weight in the car. The car handle most of the main roads with no issues. This little section has a small incline. The rear got a little lose, but the nannies kicked in to keep the rear in check, but was able to keep the gas going to keep the momentum. You can see tracks of another car that skidded off the intended path.

I've taken the car out with the nannies off in the snow and the car is fairly predictable when coming around. As long as you are gradual with the car, it won't come around to bite you.

Honestly, I would highly recommend snow tires. I had these wheels/tires on my LGT and that thing was a tank in the snow. The previous year when the Northeast got hit with the October snow storm, I had summer tires on the LGT and that thing was swinging around like it was on ice. I immediately went home to swap to the snow setup. I was able to follow a truck through 6-7 inches of unplowed snow up an incline with no issues, so that was enough to convince me that snow tires work. Not a gimmick to take money from our pockets. But to each their own.

How the car looked afterwards

BRZ loves snow

A week after Hurricane Sandy we had an unusual early snow. On a couple of unplowed inches, I couldn't get up a mild grade in Northern Westchester County, and in fact, suffered a slow perpendicular slide off the road. Luckily, two massive Hydro-Quebec trucks that were in the area providing post Sandy support, came down the road, attached a cable and pulled me out of the ditch. Vive le Québec.

Heeding this early warning, I purchased 4 Blizzack WS70s on steel wheels from tirerack.com ($842.68 delivered), and mounted them several weeks ago (the little yellow light doesn't bother me). In the recent 10" storm, with two cases of wine in the trunk for added weight, my BRZ performed well. I live in a hilly area of NYC (yes, there are). Traveling behind several rwd vans and SUVs that were sliding, fishtailing and having trouble going uphill, I had complete control, steady acceleration and a firm grip.

I'd say that if you drive your BRZ in snow (going skiing?), you must have snow tires mounted.

I appreciate your describing the NUMBER of tires purchased. Some reference a "set" (or not at all) and one usually never knows if they bought four tires or two tires and/or wheels. They go on to describe how the car performs but upon reading the story one is not sure of the total reason. I am sure that the control you have is much improved, turning and braking, by using a set of FOUR.

Back when my parents were growing up, they would only put snows on their drive wheels. These days manufacturers recommend putting snows on all 4 corners of the car - even on FWD cars. I have 4 snows on my Focus, and the snows in the back provide a lot of extra stability when navigating turns, even though they don't play an active part in steering or accelerating. If you're going to put the money into good snow tires (and you should if you live in snowy areas), a "set" really should be 4.
