... I own 3 Supras, I'm not sure what you mean by this, or if you just didn't read.

Here is another instance specifically where they started off considering a GTR rival and then decided (based on talking to "buyers") that it did not need as much power as the GTR.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...hief-engineer/
They implied supra there as much as they did saying it was a new Celica GT-FOUR.

In other words, NOT AT ALL! They did a photo shoot of the concept with some of Toyota's PREVIOUS sports cars. They never implied it was a replacement supra or anything of the sort.

They (Toyota) found out that most enthusiasts actually don't want power cars like GT-Rs (which I personally agree with). That again has nothing to do with this being a Supra successor.

Sadly after what Ichi said today about the back seats, I might just be a looker instead of a buyer, but even if the seats work... This car WILL fail at 25K... It will fail for me I mean... I don't think there is another capable drift car out there for the same price so it'll still do well...

However, if most of us (the demographic Toyobaru is hunting for) are in our 25 - 35 people who missed out of the 80's sports cars... We're all looking for something that'll haul more than ass, needs to be multiple asses... So I am seriously going to have to shift gears to another car that can do that while still providing a small smile on my face...

I currently own something I truly love, but it is not practical for what I use it for... So it all boils down to does it fit my bill...

We disagree here, they aren't giving me anything, I'm paying them. I know this car will not be a cash cow for them, but it is wise to have a diversified lineup, which is why they created Scion to begin with.

If Toyota doesn't want to cater to the Supra/GTR/370z crowd ... so be it, there's nothing anyone else can do, but it is sad and incomplete.

The Scion will hugely fail for me at 25k base. That would also mean the BRZ base would be closer to 30 IMO, which would make the BRZ fail for me too. The car simply isn't worth that.

Guys, it looks like this is their lowest/cheapest car they will be offering. Remember they said they will be offering tha option for tuners. I am sure they will have one with all the belts and whiskles for those who want to buy it fully equipped.

They are in a sense sacrificing something to produce this vehicle... They are stating they aren't making money on this car to begin with... Secondly, they're taking production capacity from making something else (Subaru's K car line) to produce this vehicle... Even though Daihatsu is picking up the slack, they could have used that to build more Priuses...

I am truly grateful Toyobaru stepped up to fill this void... Maybe this isn't the car for us all, but if this car does well... One might crop up in the future... (Looking at Nissan 240sx)

Instead of saying "why isn't there a GT-R / 370Z rival, other people in the future might say "why isn't there a FR-S / BRZ rival? Wish I can spend 20K and walk away with a smile that'll make me embarrassed about my cavities...

Think of it that way and it'll all be clearer...

The target price is mid-low $20k. You don't get Supra for that price, what you do is MAKE a Supra out of it...

Good luck man... everything on the market right now had zero sense of fun and most handle like boats. I've driven every sportscar on the market under $50000 other than a Camaro and a Cayman. I hate everything.

S2000 was the last great sportscar IMHO, the RX8 was pretty sweet too.

i dont think toyota has forgotten the supra, to be honest i think everyone has had the feeling for a while that toyota wants to bring back the supra, what with the LFA and now this. but what do you think is more practical, to release a cheaper enthusiast car and test the waters to see if people really want sports cars again, or go all in with the expensive R&D and throw it out there hoping for the best?

if a supra is what you wanted i think you should have realized that was never something this car would offer. from the day it was announced i think the majority of the people who first registered here realized this was to be a cheap car that truly puts the driver in the driver's seat. that's all i expected from this car and i'm confident in saying that it's exactly what we got.

Options maybe. According to the Scionphiles (is that what they call themselves?) Scion only tends to offer one trim, and then have options/packages. I'm good with the base FR-S + options because then I can really get exactly what I want.

This car was engineered to be a Mans Miata. Fun to drive, cheap, good track day car, and a great laugh. The fact that it's good looking is an epic bonus.

I think a lot of the forum noobs need to go buy themselves a 2013 Genesis Coupe 2.0T. It has every single thing the whiners want but I'm certain they won't because they are too stupid to realize that brand identity purchasing is RETARDED!
