Stop second guessing yourself and go with the Sprint kit. If for whatever reason down the road, you could always keep the calipers, pads, and brake lines and upgrade the other parts to the Endurance kit.

I can record what Boss 302R brakes sound like, which are fully floating without anti-rattle clips/springs/whatever. Not sure it'll be too audible over the engine though on the gopro. Won't be able to do so for a few days at least also.

If stock dust boots burn away cant you just leave them be?

Also what is the servicing looking like for the seal replacement?

I read if the temperature reaches some number on the sprint kit...they should be replaced but i havent seen the seal part on the Essex website

I would also like to see more of the sprint kit for all the popular platforms of cars currently in production such as vw gti and other pocket rockets.

For the sprint kit, can you fit stop tech street performance pads when running on the street?

@JRitt Are you guys looking at doing a rear competition kit or would you even consider a j hooked oem size rotor for the back?

Yes. We are looking at options for the rear. Our first priority is finishing development on the front setups, as that is where the most need obviously is. After we're done there, we'll be looking at the rear and seeing what we can do. Anything we do in the rear will be designed to work seamlessly with our front systems. That said, the big issue with the rear is the parking brake. Eliminating it would make things easy, but retaining it (which most people want), makes it tricky.

I'll be running temp strips on the calipers in late Feb, but unfortunately won't have data until then (next track day).

You can leave the dust boots alone on other calipers, they just make a mess as they crumble apart or melt.

I highly doubt the calipers are getting all that hot at all to be honest.

As already posted, they are looking at it.

For me the rear kit would have to save a lot of weight and I'm not sure that'll happen with the e-brake retained. I don't see any functional reason besides weight savings to have the rear kit on these cars, unless caliper was replaced with one where pads were way cheaper.. I've never had a car that had more expensive rear pads than front before this one with the Essex kit :P

UPDATE:

For the record, the decision is ESSEX, and AP 100%, no sense messing with anything else for my application

just waiting on a template fitment test/pending wheel choice upgrade may impact this too, ideally the car will wear a street rim(oz hlt 17x7.5 with DOT DD rubber) and also have a Track wheel, (17x9 clad with r-comp)

leaning ENDURANCE, but wanting 17's, thus the fitment check milestone...stay TUNED!

I tested the sprint template on Sparco (designed by OZ) Assetto Gara 17*7.5et48, I had about 2-3mm clearance from bottom of caliper to spokes.

Great, gmhooker! I'm glad we're going to be able to earn your business. Thank you very much, and we look forward to servicing your future braking needs.

I reviewed this once before in the original Essex brake kit thread, but Endurance wheel fitment is sometimes actually superior to the Sprint, despite the larger disc. The reason being, the caliper is pushed further away from the center of the hub. On some wheels, the spokes curve inward very tightly as they get closer to the center, cramping the Sprint cailper because it is sitting closer to the center. So, the moral of the story is...when in doubt check the templates folks. Just because the Sprint or Endurance System will or will not fit, doesn't mean the same will be true of both!

That said, please note that the Endurance system will fit many, many 17's. We have use the same 325x32mm disc and CP8350 caliper from our Endurance system on Evo's, STI's, E36 M3's, etc...many of those cars run 17's as well. The only tough thing will be finding as many options in the 5x100 pattern.

Here are some wheels I have recorded as fitting our systems (submitted by various users):

Sprint
Enkie RPF1 17x8 45
Wedsport TC105n 17x9 35
Mach V Motorsports "Awesome" wheel 17x9 42
Work Ultimates 18x8.5 47
Sparco (designed by OZ) Assetto Gara 17x7.5 48

Endurance
Enkie RPF1 17x8 45
BBS CH-R 18x8 38

Much thanks to BZRanger for confirming another one.:happy0180:

I mentioned it in another thread, but the Sprint kit works with the stock spare tire with a 20mm Spacer. It comes very close (1-3mm) but it works good enough to limp back home. I only mounted it and spun the wheel by hand and also used the template, but have not driven the car on the spare to confirm it fits 100%.

I'm guessing the Endurance will not fit though, since the caliper would be mounted further out, but I havent tried with the template.

Hi guys,
We will be officially importing the AP Racing Road Car Systems that fit stock FT86 wheels. You will be able to order this system as a front or a four wheel setup. Please visit our blog for details.
