First trying to figure out the limit in "The Kink" Took it just a little too fast this lap (tail-happy around 2:17).

Track:

Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park East WHPE (formerly Firebird East), Phoenix, AZ. March 15-16th 2014. ~80*F ambient temp.

Car:
2014 FRS Automatic

Mods:
Stock power
Stock suspension
Stock fluids
Stock brakes
Michelin PSS 225/45-17 on Enkei PF01 17x8 +45

Notes/Comments:
First track event. HPDE1 and 2 with NASA AZ. This was the second of a two day event. I was in DE1 Saturday and DE2 Sunday. I chose this video because it has the best action with some passing and so forth. I was really lucky on the first day and had a ton of open track most of the time - which makes for kind of boring video for you to watch a complete novice on an empty track.

The reference lap in the second video is from when Hal was driving our car and I passengered with him. Earlier that day he set the TTD lap record in his FRS, and I let him drive our automatic for comparison. His best lap in our car was 1:11.49 and my best was 1:12.9, so I'm about 1.5 seconds slower than the record holder. Granted, I only got that close to his time by following the lines he showed me.

Video:

First lap on a track.

[ame]http://youtu.be/l8jncSz02iA[/ame]

More entertaining - a full session with some passing and traffic.

Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park West WHPW (formerly Firebird West), Phoenix, AZ. April 6th 2014. ~80*F ambient temp.

Car:

Mods:

Stock brakes
Michelin PSS 225/45-17 on Enkei PF01 17x8 +45

Notes/Comments:
Second track event. HPDE2 with NASA AZ. This was the second of a two day event. Lisa was supposed to drive both days, but hurt her hip overnight after the first day. NASA AZ was great and said she could either drive free at the next event, or I could drive Sunday. So I drove.

This is my first day on this track and I see a hundred things I did wrong, but it was really fun. Especially since Lisa had driven the day before, we were able to compare notes about the car and the track together.

Check out my thread here for more information than you ever cared to know about my favorite section of this track - the back oval. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=53

My second day at Watkins Glen. The car was still on stock Michelin Primacy 215/45/R17 tires. The video is a part of one of the last sessions with a few consistent laps (2:36.24, 2:35.39, 2:35.98, 2:35.19).

Here's what I believe to be my fastest session of the weekend on Saturday afternoon when the sun came out.

I start closing in on a Cayman R at the 4 minute mark and shortly after getting a point by I struggle to keep up with a new 981 Cayman GTS with a skilled driver.

So much fun! I consistently ran 1.50.xx lap times on Saturday afternoon once the sun came out and warmed up the track.

Nice laps.

Since Terry had it open, I went up there a couple of times in the winter of 2010-2011 to do car control work. Ice, snow, wet, and dry - it had it all. With the flatness of the track and the no-barrier runoff (except at pit-out), it's a great track to play on. Though you do have to watch that you don't slide across and hit someone on another part of the track if you go four-off.
