I think it's pathetic that the majority of the discussion is about the freaken wheels.

Makes me disgusted.

If I wanted an exact copy of an AE86, I'd buy one. 25% of the reason why this car is appealing (to me) is because, it ***looks*** appealing.
That's actually not a bad percentage. Although I only care 10% how it looks on the outside 15% interior, size, seats, 25% performance and handling, 25% price, and 25% if it's an efficient, aerodynamic, lightweight chassis.

It is hard to tell from the cropped version of the interior but it looks to be a true drivers car like the Supra Mk IV which had much of the center console angled towards the driver. I like that.

I think that the swirls might be fooling everyone that this car is bland.

Finally, it will really looks like Celica or Honda RSX, but RWD
This actually looks pretty good to me. I did notice the headlights are not as elongated front-back as they were in MkII. They are more side to side... But I like that render.

It's not bad, but I can't see much with the swirls. My first impression was that it does look a little bland. I really like the front though (which the headlights were more pointy though)

Ugh I agree. The rounding on the taillights is disgusting. They look like turds.

Nah I think the round tail lights would never look good. None of the past designs hinted to this car having ugly round headlights. Big slap in the face.

I'm assuming they could just be filled in that way though, to disguise them. Maybe I'm being too hopeful?

I like the low profile aspect of the spoiler since it wont hinder rear visibility. However the side of the spoiler needs some more work.

I don't like how the hood became more boxy. The headlights as well were curved differently. As I said, they aren't stretched as much from the front to the back as below, where the hood conforms around them:

The Celica did a good job of having the longer headlights.

I concur, I'd hat it if it had one of these like in the CR-Z.

I don't get why people are bashing on the car when the actual production never looks like the concept. It's not Mclaren or BMW where they produce a car looks exactly like the concept, it's a friking Toyota/Scion.

Yeah yeah yeah... I got it, the car is slow if you compare to 50K car. Try to spend the money differences between this versus a 50K on performance, which one is faster at the track and drag race.

EDIT: And for people who are saying deriving production version from mark2 is ugly, they are just haters. They don't even see the actual production CAR yet. Why don't they try to put round taillight on FR-S and see how good looking it is?

I hope it turns out as good as it looks in production or concept. I'm cautiously optomistic.
I'm old enough to remember 1984 and the introduction of the concept and production of the original MR2. It was promised at a particular price and was introduced a few thousand higher. It was also promised to be around 1800 lbs and was just over 2200 by the time it was in production. If they had hit the target weight, the 1600 CC engine might have been fine but coming in 400 lbs heavier than promised, it wasn't near the car it could've been. I owned one and loved it but sure wished it had been lighter.
They then wanted to put in a 2 liter but found it wouldn't fit. The super charged version was their solution but it didn't come out until later. The larger engine not fitting was one of the reasons the second generation car was built. I hope they get close to the target weight this time.

Yeah, I agree. I'm surprised they even got a mule this early, but there was no way they could have had one before the NYAS.

It kinda looks more like the mkI w/ a little mkII mixed in but there is no resemblance to the mkIII at all... u never know they might make some changes before it ready for production
