I would have rather picked up a brz since the toyota 86 isn't offered in the us , but due to pricing I had to get an fr-s. But regardless of badge the collaboration between toyota and subaru produced one hell of a car. I was a toyota fan boy since I bought my old scion tc, but always liked subarus also(best friend has a 500hp 05 sti) and this car allowed me to have the best of both worlds .

I'm not sure what you're listing as positives and negatives here, but:

Visibility with the HIDs is very good
The FRS suspension is better

Because

1/ Toyota Draw the car...but Subaru Engineered the car, and Manufactured it

2/ Toyota Claims being a part of this, because it was Based on their AE86 platform, just new design.

3/ Toyota do only have the Direct Injections system in these car. That is it.

85% of this car = Subaru Engineered. Why wouldn't I want a product from the Original, and also the Manufacturer

1) The price premium over the FRS, even the limited model, was totally worth it. No plans on replacing the nav system either now that I'm used to it. This goes especially for the HIDs, leather, nav system, heated seats (since I drive to work at 5:30AM) and auto climate control that I was already spoiled on with my last BMW.

2) The fit and finish on the Subaru is far, far better than the FRS. No mismatched body panels, cheap interior feel, etc...

3) Several reviews remarked that the stock suspension tuning on the BRZ was markedly better than the FRS, including a Car and Driver comparo.

4) After how awesome my 2011 Outback and the local dealers have been for my family, brand loyalty kicked in. Plus, I've always hated Toyota, and their dealers work in such huge volumes (in the service dept.) that I doubt I'd get the kind of attention I'm used to getting at Subaru dealers. Even though I'm in the per-capita Subaru capital of the US.

5) WR Pearl Blue. It's just gorgeous, and I never stop getting compliments on it.

6) Edit: The push-button start and touch to open doors are just awesome as well. I never get tired of that, except when I want to turn of the car and not the radio. I'll figure out a fix to that later.

You can get to the "Acc" by pushing the push to start button once with your feet off the brake and clutch, and you can get the car to the "On" position by pushing it twice. But you do have to cycle through it, so if the engine is on, you have to turn it all off and push it again to get the radio back on.

Thanks,
Rick

The funny thing is how completely ignorant you are about Toyotas involvement in the development, team 86, and the fact Toyota is Fuji's main stockholder so if you want you can claim every car Subaru produced after Toyota because the main stock holder is technically a Toyota ...

You obviously don't understand the difference between a design engineer and a project engineer...

Your claim on #2 is just flat out false. They roll off the same assembly line.

#3 is totally subjective. The BRZ puts down better times stock because it is less prone to oversteer. It is completely a personal matter for which you prefer. If you don't track your car in stock form OR if you change anything in the suspension then the differences are meaningless...

all that i listed were preferences. i just really wonder how much more visibility the hids provide

I haven't compared side by side with an FRS, but the HIDs on my BRZ are by far the best headlights I've ever seen.

I ended up with a BRZ because at the time i was in need of a car and a FR-S was not available in my area. There just happened to be a dealership that had a BRZ so i got it
