In terms of the OP, I have grinding and popping noises when I turn the steering wheel full tilt. I think we just need to tighten up bolts in the front suspension area.

back from the dead and with more seriousness!
after a 3700km road trip, split in half by a 2 day intense autocross, I now get some serious noises when turning the wheel at parking speed (ie, less than 5km) it's very weird and I have no idea what it could be as I've not taken anything apart relating to the steering or suspension. there is no noise with the car operating at regular speeds. sad panda..
