the twins side by side

I went to Subaru this morning to have a look at the first BRZs in the country
of course i parked my 86 next to it and the subaru guys were taking pics too

in SA, the BRZ is identical to the high spec 86, apart from the little boot spoiler

the one i saw the interior is identical to the high 86, including the crappy basic radio. the price is 40-50K over the high spec 86 but apparently the maintenance plan will be better. But i guess you will pay a premium for the subaru badge and scarcity. For the same price, i'd get a subaru, but i wasn't going to wait for it and i wouldn't pay that much of a premium, given that it's essentially the same car.

@Vladror well for 40-50k is a full trd kit, a nice set of rims and an exhaust upgrade. Im gna stick to the high spec 86. does the high spec come with the red alcantara like some pics iv seen on the forum , iv only seen the standard model in sa.

in SA, there's only one spec BRZ, which is somewhere beween the basic and the limited spec in the US as far as i know. I think the only thing missing in the SA version is the touch radio, otherwise it would be like the limited.
But yes, i think we pay about 50% more for our cars than the US...

Thanks for the pic! That blue is such a nice match for the car :-D Think I'm gonna call up some dealers here in JHB to find out if they have any models yet to view. Pity about the premium since like you say, it's essentially the same car but I guess there will be buyers looking for the scarcity factor.

I think high spec only comes in black but imo the black looks far nicer than the red and it was one of the reasons I went for my high spec. red looks a bit tacky and more prone to showing dirt. But if it's your thing then go for it

Nice pics, thanks.

To be honest, it almost looks like Subaru changed the bumper only for the sake of being different. 86's Bumper looks much more aggressive and follows the rest of the lines better. A more balanced design if that makes sense?

BRZ also got a different and awesome sounding exhaust BTW so the main differences are exhaust + boot spoiler + maintenance plan.

What is also different is the plain silver dash panels and missing white ring on the rev counter. Went for a drive in one a while back so I had a good look inside & out.

Yep, black only for SA. The Alcantara also seems to be different between std and high. Thought it was exactly the same after Kevin pointed it out but then had another look later and it does indeed seem to be different.

BRZ's blue is stunning indeed. Really love that colour.
