We just finished pulling the blowers and shipping them off to Vortech.

Thanks @Brian@Vortech for making all this possible.

Going back to NA

@Chris@Phastek, @Pete, and myself have returned our blower units back to Vortech for an upgrade. We should be getting them back tomorrow or Friday. So far the upgrade process has been smooth and overall it was good to work with @Brian@Vortech.

@Chris@Phastek and @Pete opted to leave their cars down and find other means of transport. I however took on the challenge (or lack thereof?) in going back to NA. Here are my thoughts

It is a little bit more complicated than taking the Vortech airbox, blower, and belt out and putting the stock bits in.

+ The Belt. Vortech has a tilt bracket to make the alternator stand up so we can use longer belts. In addition they supply a black idler pulley that is smaller than the pulley it replaces. Despite this supposed cancellation, the stock belt does not fit on. Luckily the tilt bracket comes off easily. I am running the stock belt with the smaller vortech idler pulley but the tensioner easily takes up the slack.

+ Idler Pulleys. Vortech also uses some of the idler pulleys as mounting points for the blower. I had to put the OEM pulley bolts back on and torque to spec. I did not touch the crank pulley at all.

+ MAF Sensor. This is now relocated to the charge pipe right after the intercooler. This means its behind the bumper. You'd think you need to remove the bumper to put the car back to NA, but you can undo a few push clips in front of the wheel and underneath each side of the bumper, then peel away the liner to get access to the MAF sensor. Its tight to get a screwdriver in there to take it out, but its possible. You also have to carefully pull the MAF sensor out of of that space so you can plug it into the Airbox

+ The Airbox/Intake. It was obvious we had to take off the Vortech tube that goes into the Throttle body. However, the stock airbox does not drop in without removing the charge tube which has the blowoff valve port on it. Bummer. Taking out the port means you have to peel the wheel liner away to release the clamp. You also have to plug the secondary breather tube back into the intake tube.

+ MAP sensor. You probably want to put the stock MAP sensor back on. Since this is underneath the Boxer D-4S cover this is very easy.

+ Painters Tape. I did not want to get water in the pipes only to have it blow into my engine. I taped off all the exposed pipes, MAF openings, blow off valve, etc.

+ Sound tube. I did not have a kit to to remove the sound tube so it had to go back on. I just hooked it back up and zip tied the bits in place.

+ Flash the Stock NA Map. Pretty easy. We flashed the car back to stock and let it idle for 10 mins so the computer had time to adjust.

+ The rest: Everyting I mentioned above was what we had to touch. The rest can stay in the car: You can leave the BOV (taped off), some of the charge pipes, intercooler, and all of the blower mounting brackets in the car.

It took about 5 hours to put it back to a driving state, but that was because we had to discover as we did it. I suspect with a experienced person, you could do this in about 2 hours.

With respect to blowby gas, my catch can is catching oil from the primary breather tube (PCV System). The secondary breather tube dumps into the Vortech airbox right after the air filter. I checked some of the pipes I removed and everything was clean. I haven't tracked the car but @Chris@Phastek has. I will say his pipes were less than....clean. He will elaborate should he wish to. I'll be adding a 2nd Radium catch can shortly

I've put about 350 miles on the car so far back in NA. The car drives great and I got some fuel economy back. Although i'm down on power, the car is still fun to drive. I enjoyed learning in this reversal process.

I just wanted to say, I really appreciate your experiences with this kit. I know it seems I hate this kit (I don't, at all), but the feedback everyone has provided in this thread is awesome! Keep up the good work!

Local customer contacted me and has already purchased the Visconti Stage 1 kit.

Looking for an installer...

So we might have more data and comparisons by next week.

I love data

Here is my 2013 YTD. The supercharger had an immediate and noticeable impact on fuel economy. The one time I got 24.11 was when I did almost all highway driving on that tank. I would say I would average 21mpg with the supercharger on my normal commute. The last bullet point shows my economy going up as a result of temporarily switching back to NA. Prices are going back up

You will love the new blower. It was a huge noticeable difference to me compared to the original unit. I'm now pleased to say I'm very satisfied with the kit and I can't wait to see where it can go from here

Yes I hit up @PERRIN_Jeff and @PERRIN_Chris and they delivered in minutes as well. And for all three kits. Great service +1

They gave me a new tune, gave Jeff a call at Perrin and he sent it over, did some datalogging to make sure everything was good, made some minor tweaks.

My god that's horrific. 21mpg? Dealbreaker, when a turbo can do more with better economy.
