If you're careful with the harness, it shouldn't break. Hell, I've melted some O2 sensor harnesses (header can get hot.. ahem) and they still "work" just not very serviceable!

Wondering the same thing, or if I should go get a refund on this option that I paid for during initial vehicle purchase.

I think there's a better chance of us finding life on Mars than there is of us seeing the factory sub any time soon.

well, at least this explains why my salesman had never heard of it, told me he'd "look into it", and three weeks after delivery of the car still hasn't called to tell me he can get one :P

There is the OEM Audio Plus System 400+ Factory Upgrade for the Scion FR-S / SUbaru BRZ, only it's not just a sub; It's a full upgrade (2 amps, tweeters, etc..) This kit uses factory connectors OEM Certified components and is tuned and designed specifically for the 86

Yeah. . I'm aware of that option, but for $1k, I would rather build a custom setup as I did on my previous cars. I was hoping the factory option would be relatively cheap to get some more punch.

Does "tuned for FRS" mean the sub doesn't rattle the sh*t out of the trunk and rear deck lid? Because with some basic understanding of acoustics, radio setting and amp settings, I'm getting pretty fantastic sound out of the factory speakers and my JL sub. Minus the annoying buzz and rattle from the bass (which I've been able to dampen pretty well myself).

When will the reference series be available? Will it include sound deadening?

Yessir cfusionpm! Like you said with an understanding acoustics and with the tailored aspect of this kit; The O+ System produces accurate bass and way more output without the rattle. Which radio are you rocking in your FR-S?

The Reference Series (Full Upgrade) is projected to be available this summer. This option will not include sound deadening; Because the System is tuned for the acoustics of the car (Taking into factors such as road noise, rattles, clipping, etc..) sound Deadening is not needed for the O+ signature sound reproduction. Though sound deadening is applicable if desiring to reduce road noise in general.

Just had put in a JL 10W3v3. I've had JL subs for about 12 years and I'd never buy anything else. I have been thoroughly satisfied by the smooth sound produced and the long-term quality (got 9 1/2 years out of an old 12W3v1 with hard daily use). Factory radio set on FR-S profile, Natural "EQ" setting, treble +3, Bass -1. Amp set at about 1/3 power, LPF at 55hz. Sounds clean, crisp, and smooth other than the trunk rattle at higher volumes. Out the door with parts/labor/tax, I was just a hair over $500.

Gotta budget my mods one at a time, but next in line is either a catback exhaust or nice touchscreen HU. I'm pleasantly surprised with the audio quality I'm getting now after dinking with multiple settings between HU and amp, I just think the stock one is clunky and awkward to use. I also have a Garmin, so motivation to upgrade for nav isn't that high either. Given proper EQ control, you can make almost any speakers sound good. Would love a Pioneer AVIC X2500BT or X950BH.
