my car started to do the fluctuation upon 5,000miles after a long drive. This went away upon 10mins after one stop into regular traffic....changed oil at 6,000miles toyota synthetic and subaru oil filter.....no idling problems after oil change...slowly breaking in the elements of the car is to me pretty essential. It all depends on your driving and "making" the engine durable. Thus more efficient in the long run...hope this works the idling problems
Thanks

Both of the FR-S's I've had did this, however only the second one has the crickets. Then again I only put 380mi on the first one.

There is an open recall on BRZ engine computer software. At my last visit to dealer week ago new software was installed. I didn't notice any significant fluctuation at idle ever since. Idle RPM varies a little bit, but nothing like large dips I had before.

I picked up my hot lava manual 86 last week. I noticed my car did that with less than 500km and figured it was just bc it was not broken in. Now with 1600km on it, it still does it. At red lights it will idle for a sec at 600 rpm them drop a bit and immediately catch itself and blip to around 1000-1100. Also recently noticed a, for lack of better description, misfire kind of shake at idle but only when warmed up.

Where do you have your HVAC controls set at when you notice this?

It only does it on mine when the A/C is on or the defroster is on, if those are off then the idle is steady as a rock. This seems to be a "normal" thing for Toyotas.

I'm trying to figure out if I have an issue. Idle drops to 600 rpm, makes it harder to get a quick, smooth start.
