Not really. Some TRD parts are classified as "race-only" or "off-road only" parts and carry no warranty. IF this TRD supercharger doesn't pass CARB emissions testing, it'll probably be considered a race part. If it does pass CARB testing, it'll carry a 1-year, or balance-of-the-drivetrain warranty if installed by a dealer.

That would be total bullshit if you show up to such an important automotive event with nothing else but a fucking sticker that says supercharged!

Honestly, all I really want is 250whp w/ supercharger and bolt-ons... THEN I'll have my buddy Visconti do an e85 tune to bump it to 280-300whp w/ a pulley change.
I think 80% of FRS/BRZ drivers would be fully satisfied w/ a setup like that. TRD better keep this thing around $6k w/ install or I'm keeping my business with Vortech.

My reasoning may be deductive but to make a turbo'd up variant seems like something Toyota would do. I wouldn't trade mine in, I find I'm more after N/A MR2's for example just because there's less to deal with and I'm not really one who uses the term underpowered when speaking about a car with more HP than my DD Corolla and Prius No TRD SC for me either =) |

Auris TRD is not a big seller in South Africa ... very disappointing figures from that car.

As for power expectations - I am absolutely stunned that some of you are "expecting" 230+ whp. Have you guys ever bought a factory SC'd car before at this price point??? Trust me, there is no way on this planet that it will make anything north of 230. To inject some reality - you'll be damn lucky if you see a 20hp bump in a very conservative setup. It might be fun to banter about how stout this engine is but TRD can't afford to have a customer's engine explode because of their tuning so their tolerances for testing will be tight. Also, expect to pay a lot too. The aftermarket has always done better than factory applications because they don't worry as much about reliability as manufacturers (no insult intended to the aftermarket). |

Stock 2004 Grand Prix = 200hp.
SC 2004 Grand Prix (GTP) = 260hp. IIRC 7.5psi max boost. ~30% increase isn't too much to hope for. Edit: WHP is a different story - that's not 230+ whp but it's over 200. And more than a 20whp gain. |

I wouldn't use this specific car either as a benchmark on what the car will product via a factory setup. It has a built engine and is meant for racing which means it's expected to break at some point and they have the money to fix it.
I'd be surprised to see the kit make more than 200whp in stock form, which would probably equate to around a 50HP bump at the flywheel, which is certainly noticable... |

There are people making 20whp with exhaust(catback and overpipes, headers or combinations there of) and tunes. There is no way they make it add any less than 40-50.
