No apology needed. There are much worse comments lol. You have an S2000 too? Are you also thinking about getting an FR-S like I am?

Yes, as soon as I sell the s2k ill start hunting for an frs. Hopefully ill have $ left over for tires, drifting/losing the rear end goes against my instinct as far as spirited driving. But the frs rear end in the vid did not look as loose as I had imagined givin the ads and reviews for the car.

lol glad you guys had fun and are ok. As always drive within your limits, keep every1 safe, and keep it off the street as best you can, but you already know this stuff.
Watching the video cracked me up listening to your passengers. good fun. |

1. Not my car, actually met the owner the same night and he agreed to let me test it out.
2. Passengers rode along on their own free will, did not force them to go. If at any point they felt discomfort, I would have gladly stopped. Obviously we were hyping up our talk to make the video fun and were just animated people in general. lol 3. I drove a Mazdaspeed Miata and a G35 with a very tail-happy demeanor the same night on the same road, no there was no crashing or double lane madness. To all of those comments about rough driving or terrible car control, here is my take on driving the car... I've driven the BRZ on this road plenty of times and really wanted a good comparison between the two. I have driven an FR-S at a small track event in the past, but wanted to compare on the same road for a better idea. The FR-S I drove in the past, I also met the owner the same day. Before I would even think about going 10/10ths with a car, (which NO I was not doing, look at how early I was braking, left plenty of room mid corner and built up my speed from the beginning of the video) I'd have to be extremely familiar with a car and they way it reacts at the limit. Imagine if I never swerved around like that and just drove "smoothly" like you're supposed to, then suddenly the car does something that I'm not familiar with like the low speed understeer or the high speed oversteer that I felt... I would freak out, not know how to remedy it and basically not know how to react. That's why I drive that way first to understand the character a car has when it starts getting provoked or when the throttle is floored, I need to see how the LSD if applicable kicks in. At first I thought the FR-S was better than the BRZ. But after careful thought, I think the BRZ makes a lot more sense in its suspension balance. Instead of a change from under to over at higher speeds, it seems to just always slightly under. I understood how to drive a BRZ here after 3 turns, but after that whole drive in the video, I was still not done learning the FR-S's personality. My whole thing is to not get comfortable with driving only one car, I don't want to get used to only my car and then if I jump into a different car, not know what to do or just feel really scared. So what do I do? Trade cars with people, obviously there has to be some kind of limit or self-control. Especially on a public road. On track days i've traded with friends and people I've met and have driven all sorts of cars Cars I've driven at track days: Mazdaspeed Miata, 3 different Honda S2000s, Pontiac GTO, Mustang Cobra, FR-S, 2 different NA Miatas, NC Miata, 350Z Track Edition, Honda Civic Si, 240SX, G35, AE86, RSX Type S, BMW 330i, Lexus IS350, TOYOTA SIENNA... You develop a sense of trust and respect when you drive someone else's car and promise the owner and yourself not to do something stupid to ruin their nice cars.. Cars I've driven on this road: BMW 330i, Lexus IS350, Acura RSX, 2 different Honda Fit Turbos, Toyota Starlet, Toyota Camry SE, Honda S2000, Mazdaspeed Miata, G35 (oversteer hell), BRZ, FR-S, 350Z Track, Infiniti G20, Honda Civic, etc I don't think I've ever taken this road at 100 of my limit, I'm not an idiot and I know it's not worth it to go 4mph faster or brake 20 feet later then my normal for basically no reason but endanger myself. I simply wanted to test the FR-S because I have a passion for driving, I'm sorta striving to become an automotive journalist, and I hope to get into as many cars as possible to learn just how different every car drives. I got what I wanted and finally am able to make a decision on which I would prefer, BRZ or FR-S stock for stock. I'm not much of a talker, I don't go to meets listing all the mods on my car trying to explain what makes it a good car. Instead, I drive or ride in cars and see how it feels as a whole, how does the car come together, was it built with balance in mind? It looked to me like someone going 10/10th with passengers on a public road but you can’t tell everything from a video.
In light of the drivers post and knowledge I don’t have a problem with the video anymore and apologies for any negative comments to the OP. I do think anyone who is interested in performance driving needs to learn on the track and get some driving instruction. Cool vid glad you had fun. |

HAHA Well It's just that the 350Z I drove had that same weird assisted feeling, and it ended up being the VDC control, a kill switch had to be made to fully disable the system even when it was fully shut off. I would floor it out of corners and barely get a teeny bit of wheelspin, and mid-corner just felt TOO stable. With the kill switch installed, it exits corners in a much more "lively" manner depending on your throttle input and now oversteers under trail-braking. It made it way funner and more raw to drive |

That's not censored here. I applaud your attempt but it just ruined what you were trying to emphasize.
Street racing videos/discussion is only strictly forbidden in VS. There is no requirement that there be two or more cars involved. I dunno if it applies to general discussion but I'm pretty sure reckless driving would be as a matter of course. |

The lack of a second car negates the term "racing" in the first place. Any rule stating that only one car is needed to qualify as street racing is just ignoring the foundation of the English language itself.

This should be the standard comment. Of course there will ALWAYS be people who are saints on the road trying to tell everyone else what to do.

Seeing people bitch/moan about this need to shut it. Let him do what he does you telling him this stuff wont get him to change his ways. If it was someone you know then you can tellem your selves but getting mad on a forum to someone you dont even know you make it as if you will change their minds. Kids will be kids.
Some of you really need to grow the fuck up and lighten up. Dont go lecturing him or us about things we really dont care about because most of us probably dont want to hear it. Give your 2 cents then leave it at that. Not write a full essay telling us how to drive. Once he gets what is coming to him he will learn his lesson. |
