Their presentation was a bit dry, but they offered up some insights and overall were even-handed. This and Chris Harris' recent
sum up one of the main reasons I like the BRZ: it's the closest I can get to cars like the Elise and Cayman while still being practical enough to daily drive. Of the six cars compared in these two videos, only the GC and FT86es are even options for me (due to the lack of rear seats in the Elise, Cayman, and 370Z).

It's interesting that both videos compared an FT86, a used (and relatively exotic) European car, and an Asian bang-for-your-buck car. That effectively highlighted and put into perspective the FT86's dynamics and responsiveness.

That the FT86 is even being compared to the Elise and Cayman S is yet another accolade for it.

Great review. I'm kinda sad I missed out on big sur when I was last in the US. Reminds me a lot of the great ocean road here in Aus.

I wanted to love it - I've been tooting Hyundai's horn since they release the 2nd last gen of the Sonata (one previous to the current) and finally, FINALLY cleaned up their act. So when Hyundai was launching a RWD coupe? I was ecstatic - maybe it was the car I could replace the IS300 with - then came the reviews, then the stories about the gear box, then I sat in one. Meh - not worth dumping the IS300 for really.

That wheel needs a diet and fast. I don't care for the styling but then again, I never bought a car based on styling.

I am really happy this comparo brought a Lotus to the fight. The fact that the Scion drew even in review 1st place with the Lotus is AMAZING. Yes, the Lotus is a 2nd hander but the fact that this car can compare is crazy!

Plus, the Lotus cannot be driven to and from the track with race tires - the drive would kill your back (I've been in one), the tires would require a second car to haul them and there are known issues with Lotus assemblies on the car as a whole. Engine wise they are fairly solid.
2zz-ge still showing love.

Awesome review. I thoroughly enjoyed watching that and it makes me even happier that I bought an FR-S over a Genesis Coupe. The GC is still a good car, but personally, I prefer the FR-S

LOL same here man big step back on the new gen in the looks department. Hyundai has to decide now if they want the Genesis to compete with the muscle category or the lightweight sport imo otherwise they will just continue to be washed away from both sections.

Slowly everybody ignores the horsepower and just appreciates the driving experience, so many journalists love this car for what it is, i love it.

Good video though I could have done without Genesis. The FRS is a true drivers car and the genesis doesn't compare in my book.

I also have an Elise and I totally agree with the outcome. If you're limited to one car get the FRS/BRZ. The FRS makes sooo much more sense thoughthe Elise has the seduction of a siren which draws you to it. But much better off with the FRS/BRZ. If it's not you're only car... there is no question on the Elise. I've driven both and I didn't find the handling to be quite as close. Then again, my Elise is slightly modified. Add a few mods to the FRS and I think it will be a BEAST! Odd that they thought the chassis would only be good for 250hp. I think it's good for much more.

I agree with what they said in this video at a 100%.

Very nice video !

It is very funny because I traded my hyundai Genesis for the scion FR-S and I own a Lotus Exige S.

So I know what they talk about in this video.

You realize that that is a reliability chart not a customer satisfaction chart no? I'm confused as to how cars built with crappier, pieced together parts are more reliable. If the parts hold up better aren't they better regardless of construction methods?

The quality of parts is only relevant to the overall reliability of a vehicle. What is the point in having a few parts that are 10% stiffer but don't result in better crash testing or overall durability? The proof is in the pudding.
