This why don't post outside of the Aussie section. Way to many knob jockeys.
Ps, car has a turbo smart bov, plumbed back into the **factory air box**. There is no flutter or surge. Now to rest of those read this thread. If you have any chance of running e85 or eflex do it. |

There is DEFINITELY FLUTTER AND SURGE in that video.... If you don't hear it Youre just spreading misinformation. Sounds just like when I ran NO BOV. So either, it does not have one or is not adjusted properly. It should sound like this.. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SM7Ph1fDcZo"]TURBOSMART BLOW OFF VALVE FOR 2011 SUBARU WRX - YouTube[/ame] If you mean the car CURRENTLY has a turbosmart bov that has been recirc'd and in the Castle Hill video it DOES NOT, then please disregard the above comment. Anyways, it looks like a reproduction of the AP build. Last edited by WingsofWar; 08-18-2012 at 07:38 PM. Reason: censored |

cleaned up thread a bit..
watch it guys, its ok to be opinionated and show your love or distaste, but I wont tolerate negative retaliation from either party. If you want to fight it out, you can do so without putting the other person down. No Bans or Warnings have been issued. -Josh

So it seems regulations between AUS and US are different concerning open BOV. Which is weird, they allow standalone management but not a vented BOV.
Meanwhile in the US you can vent to atmosphere but can't run standalone in most states. Sigh. Regulations blow. I wonder how well this setup will perform with ECUtek racerom. I'd like to see an easy 300whp on E85 on 10psi. |

Even though I have the finds available for a kit, I think I'm going to wait a year or so to see how reliable these engines are with fi. Last thing I need is to explain to my wife that I need to drop another 5 or 6 grand on an engine. Still I'm very pleased with how this car is getting so much aftermarket love

For AUS it works like this 1. Standalone ECU - not legal, only piggyback is legal 2. BOV - must recirc, atmo not allowed 3. Air filter - cannot be exposed POD, must be in enclosure The CH kit as you have seen isnt legal on AUS roads, however less than 10% of modded cars in AUS would comply with the local regs, that said they can be made comply after undergoing engineers tests/approval etc. I would say less than 5% of FI modded 86's will end up being legal in AUS. In the one state they are likely to be approved after inspection but once the word gets around just how high the Hp is I would say they have ZERO chance in the other states. We might also see the insurance claims to go along with the highly powered 86s - which could bring us to ultra high insurance premiums on this car too. Lets see what time brings

I guess we're all lucky the aftermarket is on the ECU bandwagon and the factory computer rocks! Hell, I remember old 16bit ecus that powered mid 90's cars that had the processing power of a calculator. The 32 bit era is awesome.

The car is WAY faster than I comfortably want to take it up there (especially on the sticky tyres). So people with bigger balls will win, however the car was probably only going at 5 tenths of its capabilities. Also I did not realise piggyback ECU's were legal either, I thought anything that adjusted the way the factory motor controls the engine is technically against EPA law.

Castle Hill Performances official pricing for this kit is
$6995 (suppy only) and $9995 (drive in drive out with your choice of tuning solution) Anyone else think that's a bit high for the amount of gain you get? They haven't stated what's included in the kit, but should be the same as in the video and pictures. |
