My favorite part so far is the licensing. Loved the Indy car at Laguna Seca.

Really having fun with the driving station. So far I think $1600 well spent.

Are there any races in this game where you don't roll start in 12th place?

Yes. The GT cup races are rolling but grid starts close together and there are even some red light grid starts. The Sophy AI races are closer together starts too. You can also make custom races. But yeah 75% of the game is racing your way from the back of the pack, sigh. It is more challenging but sometimes it seems unfair.

I've been using the pedals from my G27 with my T300RS for years now as the originals broke early on. I installed a "pedal mod" rubber stop to give the brake a more progressive feel. Driving without ABS was IMPOSSIBLE without it.

I assumed they were still the same-old pedals and was going to suggest the mod here, but yeah I see Logitech implemented a similar, probably much better feature into the base design of the 923's.

There is a series of races I think called clubman cup plus that grid-starts you. These races can be surprisingly tough! You will see chili-peppers on the thumbnail for the race indicating the difficulty. Once you get to the point where you can be competitive in these races without making contact with other cars, you'd be ready for some online racing. If that ends up being your cup of tea you will get some serious mileage out of it.

Glad to hear you're enjoying GT7! It really doesn't get better in terms of quality. I've gone back to mostly playing GT7 lately. It's just so easy to get into it, turn a few laps and leave happy. As compared to Assetto Corsa and AC EVO on PC where every other time I get into it I end up wanting to office-space my PC

These widely spaced rolling starts are my biggest gripe with GT. It is highly conducive to bad behavior. Starting out 15 to 30 seconds behind P1 it's so hard to shake the feeling of needing to get to the front at all costs and just focus on proper racing etiquette. You never know when the lead AI (who always behaves like a Schumacher while everyone else is commuting) is going to be fast as hell to where you can't afford to be courteous as you work through the field.

The clubman plus races are proof that the normal game AI can make for decent, realistic wheel to wheel racing. Its much harder on average and one big mistake usually means you can't win. Not as casual-friendly and probably why most of the game is about dodging slow AI as you rocket to the front

Yeah racing your way from the back makes you have to be ridiculously aggressive. In a way it makes it fun because of the intensity, but also kind of annoying. The argument has always been well that's the style of the game but obviously they have the ability to do way better now with the new AI. I got first in 98% of the races but the Gr3 cup 4 and 5 are killing me. It seems like no matter what car I pick (and you can't tune) the BoP nerfs me to the other cars. Like they will be pushing me out of the way and spinning me out (old 'AI' not actual AI opponents). I can't even cheat to win, like I'm cutting corners and it's still not enough. 3 or 4 of those 8 races is all I have left to go for 100% completion though which is irk me.

I think there were a few Gr.3 chili races I hadn't done yet, probably those. I might give a try and let you know what I find.

I do know that despite the AI performing much more like you'd expect a human to in those races, there is still rubber-banding going on. For example no matter what times you put down in a given session, the AI fastest lap will hover at around a second+ faster but what I've noticed is that the AI will sometimes reward consistency. So you keep racing that pace clean and they slowly let you reel them in. The question for me by that 3rd lap when I'm at or below P1's pace is whether its worth wasting my time in case they don't?

Yeah sometimes you have to run a whole race just to see when the weather changes and who pits when.. If I get wrecked in the first lap I'm restarting. Halfway through I might finish just for a little bit of money and reconnaissance.

I hear you all. I'm currently working on the Porsche cup races trying to win some 911s. I'm on the ring, and there is no way you could even get close to P1 car unless you are bashing thru everyone along the way. Twice I got up to the lead car. One time I passed it right before the last turn. It hit me from behind sending me spinning with the finish in sight, and 2 cars passed. Shit!

Then the other time I passed P1 a bit earlier, then it goes flying by me defying all physics like a car that can't possibly have a pp under 650.

Still having fun.

Well I beat the two Daytona GR3 races. I don't even think I tried them before (in Gr3). The trioval I beat first shot no problem. The road course took me a few tries and I cheated the chicane a bit but I beat it. I almost feel like they want you cheat on these because they turn the penalties off but nerf the car so you can't keep up normally with the BoP. Although the trioval oddly I was able to keep up and ahead. Anyway just Mount Panaroma and the Redbull Ring to go.. 99%..

Beat the Redbull race.. by cutting the 90° corners a bit more than just two wheels.. it was that or get spun out by the not really AI cars. I feel a bit cheeky about it but you can't tune and it's either really nerfed or drafting is the only speed. Just Mount Panorama to go and then I got 100%

It tracks how many races you've won and 100% mean you have won every different race at least once. I have 1 left.. It's

Mount Panorama Gr3

BoP applied

(which doesn't seem fair anymore nerfed compared to the AI. Like wide open they catch up and just spin you out.)

You can't tune your car either and only tire choices are RH, IM, W. This race it doesn't rain either so basically just RH.
