I've been doing some research to make sure a 2020 BRZ Carplay HU will work in my 2015 BRZ, and thanks to this thread I'm feeling confident enough to buy all the of the parts to make the retrofit work properly.

I'm mainly leaving this comment here to commend @FR-S2GT86 for their 1) dedication to the cause and 2) incredible patience with maintaining this thread. You're a role model for forum members across the internet.

How was your installation experience? I'm curious for any lessons learned.

Following up on my post #163 from this thread, working with Brian at https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/, a PLUG AND PLAY solution is now available to relocate the backup camera display from the rearview mirror to the factory Harman Base Audio Apple CarPlay/Android Auto head unit on 2020 cars. The adapter harness consists of a female 10-pin to connect at the mirror, a male 10-pin to connect at the headliner, a female 24-pin to plug into the head unit, and a female terminal to insert into the existing 28-pin connector. Since Toyota moved the display to the mirror starting in 2018, if 2018 and 2019 head units have 24 and 28-pin inputs with backup capability, this harness should work as well.

More info can be seen in my build thread, see signature.

I'm actually just now getting around to buying all of the components and installing them. It's turning out to be more complex becuase I'm going from a 2015 BRZ nav unit to a 2020 BRZ nav unit (P/N: 86271CA690), which requires some more finesse. I plan on doing a full write-up with my research and stuff once everything's in and working. :]
