The end of Valentine and then on it starts to get good.
REAL good if you follow the story till the start of the epilogue.

Also Elk loading screens = Good
Wolf = Bad.
Honor wise, if you don't want to go to the pause menu and look.

Ch 1 - Tryin to survive/tutorial
Ch 2 - Tryin to settle back in like normal. (Tryin...)
Ch 3 - Didn't try hard enough, let's try again, everything calming down and falling into place. Also so well earned revenge.
Ch 4 - Trying to fit into civilized society.
Ch 5 - Fiji???
Ch - 6 Just straight heartbreak. (Also depending how you played things through the game this has a big affect on a certain mission)
Ch - 7/8 The epilogue leading to RDR1. (also very sad if you know how that game goes)

Still waiting for shipping confirmation
Living in Canada land there is backlog of orders via Canada distributor. Have a 2tb SSD waiting to order as well.

I've already started to amass a wishlist of stuff to play. Waiting for BF sales to go nuts. I did grab all of the half life games on sale for a whopping $6

I've been tempted by Steam Deck.

We use Steam Link quite a bit, but mostly for casual games. I got one with the controller when they did the hardware clearance a few years back.

I've also side-loaded it onto a Firestick and that works relatively well. Other than goofing around that it works I've never really tried playing a serious game on it though, as I am controller inept.

So I was looking for something short and fun to play and found an indie game called "To the moon" that some youtuber described as a phenomenal story that would have you crying. Well challenge accepted.

And he was close to being right. I was on the edge and put the game down twice to do other activities IRL lol. I have zero doubt if I played it straight through for all 3.3 hours, I would have definitely been crying. The story IS phenomenal. It's done in final fantasy III/VI pixel graphics but the story was so good I keep thinking a movie could easily be made from this poignant game. Even the story of how the writer came up with the game is interesting.

So if you're looking to burn less than 4 hours on a game that's $2.50 in the steam store but absolutely worth it, voila.

So I picked up an AMD RX 7800XT from Sapphire. The Pure edition fits perfectly in my NZXT H1v2. As much as I hated to downgrade from the 7900XTX, it was too much for my system. I'd get random flickers, the slightest static discharge would cause the computer the die, and the PSU would scream for damn near 10min after a mild gaming session. I strongly considered the 7700XT due to the cost savings thanks to vet bills, BUT, all fingers pointed to the 7800XT and being only $50 more, it was worth the ramen for dinner for a week.

Performance wise, the 7800XT is incredible! For being "mid range" I can't see a difference in the games I play vs the 7900XTX. Granted, I was bottlenecking the thing with my 5600x. The card runs cooler and my PSU doesn't scream as I'm under the 750w limit vs over. Thus far, it's run everything amazingly. Dirt Rally 2, Metro Exodus, and Dead Space (2023) run smooth. I picked up EA WRC (aka Dirt Rally 3 lol) the other day and it's smooth too. Other games like Aliens Dark Decent, Company of Heroes, and Starship Troopers Extermination all run silent.

This is probably the card I should have gone for from the start, but I'm really happy with it. The Pure card only features a red LED logo, so I found it fitting to change my BeQuiet fan to red as well for a nice little black-white-red theme.

That's an awesome verb.

After living with it for roughly a week now I'm very happy with my purchase. Been playing a lot of Ori which runs in HDR and looks fantastic. Tested Forza horizon 5 and runs at a stable 40fps with decent settings.

LCD decks in smaller HD capacity are dirt cheap but the OLED refresh model so far being overall.praised as solid upgrade with no cost increase.

So EA WRC is not quiet as enjoyable for me as Dirt Rally 2 was. The questionable switch to the Unreal Engine vs the Ego engine and the shutters are one thing, but the overall career mode and vibe is just eh. In Dirt Rally 2, I'd grind away and could earn money to buy more cars and do more events. What I liked is I could save up and buy a certain car and do a full series of events with it. And keep collecting. It was rudimentary and fun. Plus I could do weekly or monthly events to earn extra money.

EA WRC career mode is a hodge-podge of randomness. And I hate that I'm limited to a certain weekly balance nor do I earn money to buy more cars. What's more annoying is that each "week" of the season offers different race events but it's for cars that you don't even have nor can purchase. So sometimes you waste a week in the season unable to do the events because you cannot buy the cars in it. It wouldn't be an issue if it catered the events to what you have in your garage. You also have a benefactor which you have to appease but thus far it seems silly and pointless.

I wouldn't mind the career mode in EA WRC if I could grind away and make money to buy more cars. I like the concept of doing talent searches for new engineers every few weeks instead of outright buying them. I like the concept of letting them rest so you don't overwork them. I also like the different locations and types of races you can do. I just hate the whole balancing act with the budget which doesn't change and the events you can't participate in.

The good about the game is that the physics are great and certain terrains have been improved upon. The sounds are great for the vehicles and the damage models are pretty decent. When you get to drive, it's a lot of fun. Sadly, you also spend a lot of time doing the whole balancing act.
