What do I need to keep together? ECU ect.
I'm in process of doing the Kswap with a standalone.
However, right now I have a flex fuel tune via ECUtek. I was planning on keeping the ECU and flex fuel kit in case I ever go back to stock motor. This was always my plan but now with the recent EPA changes more so. On to the questions. -Since I'm selling the motor do I need to keep anything else to pair with the ECU such as the injector ECU? -Could I potentially put the ECU in a different car in the future or is it married to this car? Through an immobilizer or something. -Anything else I didn't think of? Thanks!

If your just swapping out the engine ECU for a motec or similar they don't usually need to be synced into the other modules in car. The standard ECU need to sync with the key receivers keys immobiliser ECU and in thekey starts the dash cluster. If all these bits are staying you should be fine If you need to resync the engine ECU the procedure is here Note if it's ecutek tuned and your using it in different car do not change the vin number in ECU it will run fine without vin change. However the car will need to be compatable with the current ecu calibration I'd same transmission and similar year. Note pre and post 2017 won't work and ecutek have stopped you easily modifying the cabibration I'd however if your rearly Kean I can do it https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102810 |
