Winnemucca does not have a jail that nice. Don't ask me how I know.

People on the internets are really going crazy over the FA24 problems.

Couldn't that pretty much apply to any situation?

Yeah it's kind of ridiculous. I am not really going to comment on it anymore. I do think the 86cup guys are right, and that the FA24 seems to have more surge issues then the FA20. The way the oil pickup goes into the timing cover is different and there looks like a much larger opening into the timing cavity. But nobody knows what level of pressure drop will cause a failure. Load at the time of pressure drop also matters a lot. I have posted the screen grab from my gopro so many times of my gauge reading 5psi through a quick left/right into an uphill transition. 100k miles on my car with 60ish track days. Not to mention if you take the car to the dealership and have them inspect the oil pickup and they find something, they will cover the labor.

I also think the "they advertise it on the track!" thing is (lol) overblown.

Like yeah they advertise it and they bundle in that HPDE track thing. But my guess is they don't expect enough people to be driving so hard that this catastrophic issue occurs. It's already such a niche car and I can't imagine more than like 10% of owners, if that, take it to the track or drive hard enough for the problem to occur. Even if someone takes it to the free track thing, in most cases they're not an experienced track driver who's going to be doing high speed right hand turns IMO.

And then you get tons of people saying this is an example of why these engines are unreliable lol. But like you said, and we know others here can vouch, these cars are known to be incredibly reliable and some have 100-200k miles without significant problems.

oh well.

@NoHaveMSG Sorry I haven't taken the photos of the welds for you yet, been a busy week.

I still have not heard back from the vendor where I purchased the front pipe from. I even emailed them again this morning and asked if they have had a chance to look at the photos (sent them Monday night) - no response.

Have you had a chance to plumb in your oil accumulator?

No, I have too much going on. I haven’t touched my car in a month at least. I still have to pull the engine and reseal the timing cover and install rocker arm retainers.

Email them and tell them if they don't get ahold of you in X amount of time you are going to issue a chargeback on your card. That gets' their attention EVERY time. When somebody issues a chargeback on our system it locks it and we can't do any other transactions until it is resolved. I'd imagine other card service companies that businesses use are similar.

The problem with that is that I made the order with the vendor/retailer (and they charged my card) back on 4/7 and have been waiting this long for it. They sent out a few updates along the way and explained they were waiting on the manufacturer who was back logged, etc.

So it's extra frustrating because they have my money and have little incentive to make the situation right.

Can't believe I had to wait this long for a pipe with obvious quality control issues. Like they were rushed or made by an inexperienced welder.

Edit: He JUST replied:

"I did, I sent an email to [Manufacturer]. Just waiting for a response!"
