Richmond Hill Toyota has a 2022 auto with 17,000 kms on their Used lot selling for $42,999: https://www.richmondhilltoyota.com/i...6?src=vehicles

MSRP was $36,890.. so six grand over retail for a year old (maybe 2 years old soon) car?

I got an email from my dealer this week saying that my order (July 2022) will most probably only be filled in 2024 or possibly 2025! Like how in the heck! It's not an EV... Just disappointing and discouraging. Anyone else get any updates on their order?

Geez... what dealership you order your car from? I may have to reach out to mine tomorrow to inquire cuz I placed my order pretty much same time as you.

Might just go with the Integra Type S instead I have an allocation that is supposedly coming in July. Pricing pending of course…

That was an option that popped into my head a while back, but it'll be well north of 50k without a doubt.

Just a general question related to this post, not directed at Cyan Blade:

Are Americans having the same issues?

I'm sure they're seeing delays as well, but I haven't seen any "2 years +" stories from the USA in quite a while. Given that the GR86 is produced on the same line as the BRZ, which clearly isn't suffering these same delays, I'm starting to wonder if this is some sort of Toyota Canada failure.

Canada's population is 38 million while America's is 332 million which is less than 10 times more but Canada only got 20 Anniversary Editions and the US got 860 which is 43 times more. The number of cars going to the US is far higher than what Canada is getting. The percentages have nothing to do with population numbers so once again Canada is getting the short end of the stick. I guess they're basing allocation numbers on the number of cars sold previously but did the US really buy 43 times more cars of the previous generation? The lack of information is really aggravating.

I did a little checking on our respective national AutoTrader sites this aft. Across the USA there are a total of 320 GR86s listed for sale (new cars, 2023 MY). Across Canada there are precisely 0. That's a ratio of ∞:1

Out of curiosity I looked at 4Runners (all versions) and found over 3000 listed in the US, and only 77 listed in Canada, which works out precisely to 40:1.

This makes me wonder if it's Toyota Global shafting Canada, or if it's Toyota Canada just not caring enough to bother with the 86 and instead just bringing in all the Tundras, Tacos, Sequoias, RAV4s, etc that they can. Bigger price tags = much higher profit margins I'm betting.

Side note: the USA has 158 BRZs listed, while Canada has just 8. So 20:1 for those.

Here's my timeline.

Dec 2021 - Placed "order"
Apr 2022 - "Order" cancelled by dealership
Apr 2022 - "Order" placed at another dealership
Jan 2023 - Dealership notifies me saying they won't have enough GR86 coming in for the rest of MY2023 to get to me for this year, zero ETA otherwise

I've spoken directly with the Toyota Canada head office about the situation as well, and they were less than helpful. They cannot even begin to admit they have serious issues regarding:
1 - The archaic way they handle "orders"
2 - The disjointed/unsynchronized way things in general are managed between dealerships/Toyota Canada/Toyota Motor Corp
3 - The complete lack of any information, at a minimum, for their customers

The first step to resolve problems, is to admit there are problems, but it feels like Toyota's company culture despite their stated values will not allow this to happen, which is sad because they have several great products and the frustration many are having with the purchase process is creating ill will towards the company.

Just got back from my local Subaru dealer. They will have a BRZ Sport-Tech in the colour I want delivered in 6-8 weeks. They even gave me a VIN! Looks like the GR86 dream is over.

Call me crazy but I wonder if these "delivery issues" have something to do with Toyota not delivering Solterra's to Subaru resulting in Subaru giving Toyota the good old middle finger on the GR86.

Now starting to second guess my Rav4 Allocation...
