And the wheel well lips. 90's Chrysler taught me if I let the crud collect there, there will be no fender to care about later!

Do people not do this already? And if I were to wash it every time I drove it, that would be 3-4 times a day!

I want the Chargespeed front bumper and fenders so bad. It's a good thing I don't like painting anything

Replaced some crusty bolts with zinc plated bolts or fresher looking ones (if I didn't have the right size in zinc).
Mostly chassis hardware that wasn't touched when doing the engine. Zinc bolts I got from the AdamLZ drift kit (overpriced, you can get directly from boltsandnuts.com) most other bolts are spares from who knows where/ when

Did some bracing. (I don't care if they don't "do anything". I think they help.)

I started it.
This is what it looked like about 5 hours before I drove it. Taking bets on number of oil leaks by the 1,000 mile mark. Last edited by strat61caster; 10-26-2022 at 01:22 AM. |

I had practice, I had it all together Sunday night and it wouldn’t start, did the timing wrong the first time, turned clockwise instead of counter clockwise. Lesson learned, all the timing marks should line up at the same time at least once.

Mind you it would be just as bad again after 45 minutes on the 401 but I felt better about it! I see that the big chip in the front fender remains about the same after 8 years of exposure so unlike the roof that will rust at .001% humidity the lower body stands up really well!

I just remembered, I had a really loud ticking on start up, seemed to go away after 3-4 minutes, right now my assumption is that the valvetrain wasn’t lubricated well enough and it took awhile for oil to find its way into the lifters and roller rockers. Maybe I’m too tight on the valve lash, we ended up on the low end of the spec, will see when I cold start it later today.
