Just be careful around the roots of other plants you want to keep. You may need to weed the old fashioned way around those. |

I tried. These SOB keep coming back… Sadly, my dog is very picky & will not pee in the grass full of weeds. I tried ALL the Home Depot grass & weeds killer, but they just keep coming back. Hell, I even put 5 gallon bucket full of salt & only killed the grass. Weeds enjoying the salts lol |

For our patio we powerwashed the between the pavers, swept out the weeds and grass, and filled in with polymetric/stablizing sand. It should last 2-3 years.

To eliminate existing unwanted vegetation, RoundUp (glyphosate) will kill most vegetation, except woody perennial types. For these, I suggest Crossbow (2,4-D)(2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid). Be patient with these because it takes a week or two for them to work. For the really tough stuff, use Agent Orange (2,4-5-T) (2,4,5-Trichlorophenoxyacetic acid). NO DO NOT USE THAT - you can't buy it anyway, unless you are a licensed PCO. To prevent vegetation (from seeds) from coming back, I recommend Preen (trifluralin). For a longer residual pre-emergence herbicide, I recommend Casoron (dichlobenil). Now, back in the day - THIS was how we controlled weeds - |

Preen? Sell at HD? If that’s the case, yes. I bought almost all the weed/grass killer in HD. Front is killing them. Back is preventing from coming back. Front, I tried everything & only way to kill em is cutting them, but roots are so deep & thick, keep coming back up in few weeks. Back, I killed the weeds along w neighbors tree… but these weeds keep coming back after few months. |

Best way to stop having weeds is to change your view of the plants you are growing.
Grass is the worst. I hate it. Huge waste of energy and water. Or plant stuff which will crowd out the stuff you don't want. It's some work to get there though. Weed killers make me sick. Even walking by a place where they've recently treated, lungs stop working right and I feel horrid.

You might be able to smother them with newspaper. 5-6 sheets and it'll break down reasonably quickly. Not the prettiest but far less poisonous to things other than plants...or just keep rooting them up. Getting a large area completely plant free is hard without poisoning water runoff pretty badly. And it won't last long. Seeds blow in, come in with birds and such... It's hard to know exactly what you're after but it might not be reasonable. Layer of newspaper topped with an inch of sand might do better... Sand is good under the artificial stuff f I remember right.
