It would be almost hypocritical of me to have negative comments about our cars since, hell, I own one. Luckily one, of reportedly, the version were most of the issues of earlier models were addressed. Which brings me back to my initial point. Of course, it would be cynical to suggest that no car ever released has never had reported issues or fixes along the way. But what started as a used internet joke doesn't have to get too technical in terms of suggesting that our cars check all the boxes. But I'll agree to disagree, speaking from personal experience with no connotations suggesting that I'm an expert on the twins. Cost; My car wasn't cheap, I had to save for years, have good credit, and be in a good financial position to pull the trigger. At the same time its my own fault because I could've easily not buy it, or buy a 13 model. Even when I bought it at the beginning of the pandemic when no one had started buying/selling at the rate it is going. But I like to do my research, and research suggested buying the 17+. Reliable? Yes, any car with proper maintenance is "reliable", but if we get really technical on the internet joke, you need a big asterisk on it, seeing the issues that plagued the earlier models. Fun, absolutely, compared to what is out there for double or triple the price, depending on driving scenarios. Except when I lose to an angry soccer mom on the highway. I like my BRZ, its been good so far, except with the occasionally random noise that shows up and send me into a spiral of panic. But at the same token I can't pretend is all I need, because there are plenty of times when I wish I had my old Mazda 3 Hatchback. Which is part of the reason of why Im looking into the GR Corolla and keeping the BRZ as weekend toy/pass it on to future kids. I mean no ill, or desire to badmouth, or defend a Dodge product. I found it interesting, wouldn't buy one. For the sake of informing the forum of upcoming vehicles on the off-topic thread, it drove me to make the post. |

The price range certainly seems right and the looks are OK (I like it better than the GEN2 86). Definitely needs to be lowered a good bit though....

When looking at all of the Chrysler lineup, including Jeep and Ram they are miles and miles ahead of where they were 10 years ago. The Ram truck is the second best selling vehicle in North America for 5 years now. Jeep has been in the top ten for about as long. Fiat and then Stellantis have really cleaned them up and made the brand profitable again.

There's a time when we would have heard "Italian engineering, backed by a Chrysler warranty -- what could possibly go wrong?"

just going to chime in and say alfa's 2.0 liter engined cars are fairly reliable and the biggest issue were electronic gremlins in earlier model years.
Recent giulias have EXCELLENT driving dynamics, the engine is stout, and they are mostly trouble free.

That's just it - what good is mechanical reliability when the electrical system is garbage? It's harder to diagnose/fix and the end result is the same.
