A good video comparing the active sound control On (5.10) and Off (6.15) with a HKS Spec L exhaust. The difference is fairly prominent, however I am not decided on which I prefer.

Wow, the part that I guessed was ASC in the first clip was 100% gone in the second clip. Definitely prefer ASC off...
I'm not sure it was even throttle % the whole time, but it seemed like it comes on mostly after 4500rpm.

definately off, it actually sounds like an engine.

And it actually sounds a little closer to the FA20, maybe a bit smoother and not as high pitched as the fake sound.

The active sound gives it this high pitched non-matching whine that is played on top of the regular engine sound...kind of like a duet that doesnt match.

How are people turning on and off the ASC? Is it a simple settings thing, or does there need to be an aftermarket device?

Fuse pull or someone with access to the right computer (dealer) can disable it in software it sounds like

As a last resort, a snippy snip.

Does anyone know the dB specs for the HKS Hi Power Spec L for North America vs the Japanese spec (JASMA) version? I recently bought a slightly used Japanese spec - JASMA JQR 40134159. It was listed for sale as the US spec but when I got there it turned out to be the Japan spec which I believe is significantly more quiet. I ended up getting it but now having buyers remorse, it sounds great but it's too quiet, just wondering how much louder the US spec is. I like the look and really like the fact it's so light weight.

It's supposed to be 89dB according to HKS but from my unofficial test I got about 98dB at about 5.5k rpm. it's in the exhaust thread.
