Considering the mileage and cost, my guess would be he tested it out for a while, changed his mind and decided to sell. He is likely selling it for more than he bought to gain some extra dollars too since it's in demand.

With Carvana and Carmax paying max for everything he wants to sell on Craigslist? It does appear he is trying to flip it asking $34K though.

Maybe not rationally but have you seen the used market in the past year or so? Seen a lot of Americans importing used cars and flipping them for even more in the states too. The shortage is real.
Now w the 22MY production being suspended temporarily/awaiting MY23, I'm sure there will be one or two buyers that might be willing to pay MSRP+tax/fees etc with a bit of mileage. |

Guess my comment was slightly misunderstood. I understand used market is high right now. The point I was trying to make is that he is likely trying to sell it as he did not want it and also knows he can make a buck on it or hit par with a resale - due to the high used market value.
My comment was in reference to the fact that this BRZ was just purchased brand new probably less than a month ago for a certain value, so at 1200 miles, it SHOULD be worth less than what it was purchased for. I assumed @Lightened was listing the total price to oppose my thought that this guy is making money on it. But maybe he's not, idk. |

if you factor in gas, insurance, etc., this guy isn't really making money.
there's probably another motivation, like buyer remorse or loss of income. |

What most are forgetting is the use tax penalty. If someone buys this car today for $34000 (and assuming same 92660 ZIP for Newport Beach), they will pay another $2650 in use tax (which includes the $15 title transfer fee), because it is another vehicle sale. So in reality if someone buys this, they are paying $36650 for the car, much higher than the MSRP scenario listed above. You would only get around this if the seller agreed to put a lower price on the sell price, but that may also impact insurance coverage down the road if you need to get a payout from a loss or accident. The seller is trying to get out of the car without losing money. |
